Šibenik (), historically known as Sebenico (), is a historic town in Croatia, located in central Dalmatia, where the river Krka (Croatia), Krka flows into the Adriatic Sea. Šibenik is one of the oldest Croatia, Croatian self-governing cities on the Adriatic, the capital and cultural, educational, administrative and economic center of Šibenik-Knin County, Šibenik-Knin County, and is also the List of cities and towns in Croatia, third-largest town in the Dalmatian region. As of 2021, the town has 31,115 inhabitants, while the municipality has 42,599 inhabitants.The seat is the Roman Catholic Diocese of Šibenik, Šibenik Diocese. It was first mentioned on Christmas 1066 in a grant of Peter Krešimir IV, so it is also called ''Krešimir's Town''. Željko Burić
Željko Burić ( ; born 15 July 1955) is a Croatian ophthalmologist and politician who has been serving as the List of mayors of Šibenik, mayor of Šibenik since 2013. Before taking mayoral office, he served as the director of the General Hospital of Šibenik-Knin County in Šibenik. Early life and education Born in Šibenik, Burić spent his childhood and completed his elementary education in his hometown. After finishing elementary school, he decided to further his education in a Antun Vrančić High School, gymnasium. He was enrolled at the School of Medicine, University of Zagreb, Faculty of Medicine of the University of Zagreb in 1974 and graduated in 1979. As a young physician, Burić followed the standard path of internship and passed his professional exam in June 1982.
