The former ČSD Class EMU 29.0, now known as the ZSSK Class 405.95, is a three member class of metre gauge, rack rail, electric multiple unit trains in service on the Štrbské Pleso – Štrba rack railway, in the Prešov Region of northeastern Slovakia. It connects Štrba railway station, on the standard gauge Košice–Bohumín Railway, with Štrbské Pleso railway station, in the High Tatras ski, tourist, and health resort of Štrbské Pleso. The rack railway was opened in 1896, closed in 1932, and reopened in 1970 in time for that year's FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 1970, FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, which were held in the area. Štrbské Pleso Railway Station
Štrbské Pleso railway station () is a junction (rail), junction station in the High Tatras. It serves the settlement of Štrbské Pleso, which is part of the Municipalities of Slovakia, village of Štrba, in the Prešov Region, northeastern Slovakia. Opened in 1970, the station is the northwestern terminus of the main line operated by the metre gauge Tatra Electric Railway (TEŽ), and the mountain terminus of the Štrbské Pleso – Štrba rack railway, another metre gauge line. The station is also the highest point of both lines, and of the TEŽ as a whole, at above sea level. Czechoslovak State Railways
Czechoslovak State Railways (''Československé státní dráhy'' in Czech or ''Československé štátne dráhy'' in Slovak, often abbreviated to ČSD) was the state-owned railway company of Czechoslovakia. The company was founded in 1918 after the end of the First World War and dissolution of Austria-Hungary. The FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 1970 took place on 14–22 February 1970 in Vysoké Tatry, Czechoslovakia (present-day Slovakia). Štrbské Pleso
Štrbské pleso (, , , or ) is a picturesque tarn (lake), mountain lake of glacial origin and a top tourist destination in the High Tatras, Slovakia. It is the second-largest glacial lake on the Slovak side of the High Tatras, after Veľké Hincovo pleso. Maximum depth is 20 metres (66 ft). Description Štrbské pleso is now part of the neighborhood of Štrbské Pleso (spelled with a capital ''P'').
