ČRo 6
Český rozhlas 6 (abbreviated as ČRo 6; in 1995-2002 Český rozhlas 6/Rádio Svobodná Evropa) was the Czech Radio's full-channel analytical-publicist station that broadcast from 1995-2013. Until 2002, it was a joint project of Czech Radio and Radio Free Europe, whose Czech broadcasts it continued. The successor to ČRo 6 became Český rozhlas Plus in 2013. The station focused on commenting on political events, developments and the life of civil society in the Czech Republic and European countries. It broadcast programmes focusing on politics, culture, economy, historical events, religious life, ecology and interviews. It also dealt with the issue of national minorities. Czech Radio
Czech Radio (, ČRo) is the public radio broadcaster of the Czech Republic operating continuously since 1923. It is the oldest national radio broadcaster in continental Europe and the second-oldest in Europe after the BBC. Czech Radio was established in 1992 by the Czech Radio Act, which sets out the framework for its operation and finance. It acts as the successor to the previous state-owned Czechoslovak Radio which ceased to exist by 1992. The service broadcasts throughout the Czech Republic nationally and locally. Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) is a media organization broadcasting news and analyses in 27 languages to 23 countries across Eastern Europe, Central Asia, the Caucasus, and the Middle East. Headquartered in Prague since 1995, RFE/RL operates 21 local bureaus with over 500 core staff, 1,300 freelancers, and 680 employees. Nicola Careem serves as the editor-in-chief. ČRo Plus
ČRo Plus is a radio station of the Czech Radio in the Czech Republic. It is full-screen spoken-word station, focused on analytical journalism. It was founded in 2013, when it replaced the trio of stations ČRo 6, and . Czech Radio claims that the station is aimed towards listeners over the age of 35. For its nature, the radio station bears similarities with its foreign counterparts; BBC Radio 4 and B5 aktuell. As of the first quarter of 2023, 144,000 listeners listened to the station daily. The Iron Curtain was the political and physical boundary dividing Europe into two separate areas from the end of World War II in 1945 until the end of the Cold War in 1991. The Velvet Revolution () or Gentle Revolution () was a non-violent transition of power in what was then Czechoslovakia, occurring from 17 November to 28 November 1989. Popular demonstrations against the one-party government of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia included students and older dissidents.
