Özlem Becerek (born 22 April 2002) is a Turkish discus thrower. Sports career Already at her age of 14, Becerek became Turkish youth champion. She is a member of Fenerbahçe S.K. (athletics), Fenerbahçe Athletics. In 2018, she took one bronze medal at the 2018 European Athletics U18 Championships, European Athletics U18 Championships held in Győr, Hungary, and another bronze mwsal at the Athletics at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics – Girls' discus throw, Summer Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She received the bronze medal at the Athletics at the 2019 European Youth Summer Olympic Festival, 2019 European Youth Summer Olympic Festival in Baku, Azerbaijan. At the 2019 European Athletics U20 Championships in Borås, Sweden, she won the silver medal. The same year, she won the gold medal at the 2019 Balkan Athletics Championships in Pravets, Bulgaria. Özlem Becerikli (born 21 March 1980, in Balıkesir, Turkey) is a Turkish powerlifter of Paralympic powerlifting classification, class PO competing in the -56 kg division, and a Paralympian. She is a member of the Kocaeli BüyükÅŸehir Belediyesi Kağıt Spor Kulübü, Kocaeli BüyükÅŸehir Belediyesi Kağıtspor, where she is coached by Åžule Åžahbaz. Career history Becerikli took the bronze medal in the -52 kg division at the 2010 IPC Powerlifting World Championships held in Kuala Lumpur, Malesia. Özlem was the winner of another bronze medal taken at the Fazza International Powerlifting Championships in Dubai, United Arab Emirates in 2010. In 2011, she became bronze medalist at the Arafura Games in Darwin, Australia, Darwin, Australia. The European Athletics U18 Championships (named as European Athletics Youth Championships in 2016) are a biennial athletics competition for European athletes under the age of eighteen ( youth category). The creation of the competition stemmed from the 2013 European Athletics Congress. The event was created to promote the sport among young people in Europe. Each country may send a maximum of two athletes per event. The 2019 European Athletics U20 Championships were the 25th edition of the biennial European U20 athletics championships. They were held in Borås, Sweden from 18 July to 21 July. Beginning with this edition the long-distance races for men were 3000 and 5000 metres instead of 5000 and 10,000 metres mirroring the women's programme. Sport of athletics, Athletics at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics was held from 11 to 16 October. The events took place at the Parque Olímpico de la Juventud in Buenos Aires, Argentina. For the first time, every athletics' event featured 2 stages – 2 separate competitions, both of their results were added together to conclude final standings. Qualification Each National Olympic Committee (NOC) can enter a maximum of 36 athletes, 18 per each gender and 1 per each event. In total, 680 (340 boys and 340 girls) athletes will compete at the Youth Olympics with continental qualification events deciding the majority of athletes.
