Ökofeszt
The Ökofeszt or Ecofest was festival which was held to celebrate eco friendly ideas in Hungary. The first Ökofeszt was organized by Védegylet NGO, Védegylet and Zöld Fiatalok and held on 15 and 16 April 2005 in Budapest. The slogan of the festival was ''Politics Can Be Different'' which led to the formation of an eponymous political party in 2009. Politics Can Be Different won seats in the National Assembly of Hungary, National Assembly in the Hungarian parliamentary election, 2010, 2010 parliamentary election. The key issues of the festival were environmental protection, sustainable development and the fight against corruption in the current Hungarian political elite. The public face of the party is András Schiffer, who presented a talk at the first Ökofeszt in 2005 and is a former member of the Hungarian Civil Liberties Union. Dawnstar (band)
Dawnstar are an indie-rock band from Budapest, Hungary. The band's original line-up includes the songwriter Attila Wind (vocals/guitars), Bálint Hamvas (bass), and Viktor Albert (drums). The sound of the band is generally a mix of flanging and light Distortion (music), distorted guitars, throbbing bass, and enchanting keyboard melodies. Dawnstar represents a mixture of mid-1960s Psychedelic rock, psychedelic, late 1970s Gothic rock, goth, mid-1980s grunge and 1990s indie rock of the Budapest indie music scene. History Formation Wind, born to an English people, English father from Sunderland and Hungarian people, Hungarian mother from Budapest, met Hamvas in the mid-1990s at the Teleki Blanka Gymnasium in Budapest, Hungary. A festival is an event celebrated by a community and centering on some characteristic aspect or aspects of that community and its religion or cultures. András Schiffer
András Schiffer (born 19 June 1971 in Budapest) is a Hungarian lawyer and former politician, who served as co-president of the Politics Can Be Different and leader of its parliamentary group. Schiffer announced his retirement from politics on 31 May 2016. Early life András Schiffer was born in Budapest on 19 June 1971 to journalist Péter Schiffer (born 1943), a former deputy director of the Hungarian Financial Supervisory Authority (PSZÁF) and jurist Anna Hajnal. Among his uncles are director Pál Schiffer and Socialist politician János Schiffer, who served as Deputy Mayor of Budapest between 1994 and 2006. His grandfather was Pál Schiffer Sr., a Member of Parliament and Hungarian Ambassador to Norway. Besh O DroM
Besh o droM is a Balkan music group. Their music blends folk and contemporary instruments (including the cymbalom and the EWI) in styles ranging from punk rock to world music. They acknowledge particular influences from Transylvanian, Jewish, Turkish, Afghan, Egyptian, Lebanese, Armenian, Bulgarian, Romanian, Macedonian and Greek musical traditions. The band was formed in Budapest in August 1999, recently based in Budapest, Bristol and Jerusalem. Their Romany name is in the Lovari dialect: Besh o droM means ’sit on the road’ literally, but its real meaning is ’follow your path, get on with it’. András Lányi (born 26 November 1969) is a retired Hungarian tennis player. Lányi has a career high ATP singles ranking of 374 achieved on 19 June 1989. He also has a career high ATP doubles ranking of 194, achieved on 6 February 1995. Lányi has won 3 ITF Satellite tournament doubles title. Lányi has represented Hungary at Davis Cup, where he has a win–loss record of 12–13. He was studied at University of Southern California, between 1989 and 1993. He won the NCAA Men's Team Championship in 1993 with Trojans. His teammates was Wayne Black, David Ekerot, Jon Leach, Brian MacPhie and Kent Seton, and they earned All-America selection that year. Hungarian Civil Liberties Union
The Hungarian Civil Liberties Union (HCLU, Hungarian: Társaság a Szabadságjogokért, abbreviated TASZ) is a human rights NGO. Since its foundation in 1994, it has been working for everybody being informed about their fundamental human rights and empowered to enforce it against the undue interference by those in position of public power. HCLU monitors legislation, pursues strategic litigation, provides free legal aid assistance in more than 2500 cases per year, provides trainings and launches awareness raising media campaigns in order to mobilize the public.
