ÃŽle Verte (Grenoble)
Île Verte is a neighborhood in Grenoble, France, located in a bend in the river Isère. It is relatively independent from downtown. The district is one of the most heavily populated in the town, due primarily to the large apartments (three large towers, as well as an ?S-shaped apartment complex). The area is mostly residential, but the Police Headquarters (Hotel de Police) is also located here. The Three Towers The landmark Residence Île Verte, popularly referred to as "the Three Towers of Grenoble," was built within a park in the Île Verte district between 1963 and 1967, on a plan by Roger Anger and Pierre Puccinelli. At a height of 98 meters (not counting the antenna), the three towers were the highest inhabited buildings in Europe when they were completed, with a total of 504 apartments spread among 28 inhabited floors, each tower containing a total of 33 stories. Green Island (Fortune), Newfoundland And Labrador
Green Island (in ) is a rocky island near the mouth of Fortune Bay, Newfoundland. It is located about west of the Burin Peninsula of Newfoundland near Point May, and east of Saint Pierre Island in the French overseas collectivity of Saint Pierre and Miquelon. Sovereignty In Article XIII of the Treaty of Utrecht (1713), France acknowledged British ownership of and sovereignty over Newfoundland and its adjacent islands, of which Green Island is one. The Saint Pierre and Miquelon islands later on were ceded back to France by the 1763 Treaty of Paris and the British and French signatories of the 1783 Treaty of Versailles made it clear that the mid channel line between Newfoundland and Saint Pierre and Miquelon was to be the boundary line. The Îles Laval () are an island grouping in the Rivière des Prairies in southwestern Quebec, part of the Hochelaga Archipelago. Formerly an independent municipality (Les Îles-Laval), they became part of the city of Laval, Quebec, Laval on August 6, 1965. Geography Located northeast of Île Bizard between the Island of Montreal and Île Jésus (Laval Island), they include Île Bigras, Île Pariseau, Île Verte and Île Ronde. Transportation They are served by the Île-Bigras station, Île-Bigras REM station which crosses the islands. A road bridge links the islands with the Sainte-Dorothée, Quebec, Sainte-Dorothée district of Laval, on Île Jésus.
