ﾃ四e-Verte Lighthouse is a lighthouse on ﾃ四e Verte in Notre-Dame-des-Sept-Douleurs, Quebec, Canada. Completed in 1809, it is the oldest lighthouse on the Saint Lawrence River and the third oldest in Canada. The Lighttower, which is in height. History Constructed between 1806 and 1809 on behalf of Trinity House in Quebec City, the lighthouse was responsible for the improvement and surveillance of the lower Saint Lawrence River. It was among the first lighthouses built in Canada, and was the first built on the banks of the Saint Lawrence. The ﾃ四e-Verte Lighthouse illustrates the expansion of trade and navigation in the early nineteenth century and was an important milestone in the development of a network of safe waterways in Canada. Notre-Dame-des-Sept-Douleurs (, meaning "Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows") is an island municipality in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region of Quebec, Canada, part of the Riviﾃｨre-du-Loup Regional County Municipality. It is located on and contiguous with ﾃ四e Verte (French for "Green Island") in the Estuary of St. Lawrence, about north-east of Riviﾃｨre-du-Loup. The name ﾃ四e Verte was given in 1621 by Samuel de Champlain written "Isle Verte". With a population of only 71 persons, Notre-Dame-des-Sept-Douleurs is one of the smallest municipalities in Canada.
