Ã…rhus Municipality
Aarhus Municipality (), known as Århus Municipality () until 2011, is a '' kommune'' in the Central Denmark Region, on the east coast of the Jutland peninsula in central Denmark. The municipality covers an area of , and has a population of 373,388 as of 2025. The main town and the site of its municipal council is the city of Aarhus. Neighbouring municipalities are Syddjurs to the north, Favrskov to the northwest, Skanderborg to the southwest, and Odder to the south. Aarhus Municipality was not merged with other municipalities in the nationwide ''Kommunalreformen'' ("The Municipal Reform" of 2007) due to its already relatively large size and population. The municipality is part of Business Region Aarhus and of the East Jutland metropolitan area, which had a total population of 1.378 million in 2016. Municipalities Of Denmark
Denmark is divided into five regions of Denmark, regions, which contain 98 municipalities (, ; , ). The Capital Region of Denmark, Capital Region has 29 municipalities, Region of Southern Denmark, Southern Denmark 22, Central Denmark Region, Central Denmark 19, Region Zealand, Zealand 17 and North Denmark Region, North Denmark 11. Mayor
In many countries, a mayor is the highest-ranking official in a Municipal corporation, municipal government such as that of a city or a town. Worldwide, there is a wide variance in local laws and customs regarding the powers and responsibilities of a mayor as well as the means by which a mayor is elected or otherwise mandated. Depending on the system chosen, a mayor may be the chief executive officer of the municipal government, may simply chair a multi-member governing body with little or no independent power, or may play a solely ceremonial role. The Greens (Denmark)
The Greens (''De Grønne'') was a Danish green party. It was founded in October 1983. It first participated in the 1985 local elections. It was a founding member of the European Green Party. In 2008 the party was expelled from the EGP. The reason was that De Grønne intended to cooperate with the People's Movement against the EU in the upcoming elections which sits in the European United Left–Nordic Green Left parliamentary group instead of the European Greens–European Free Alliance-group. In 2014 the party discussed the own future with among the options dissolution of the party or changing it into a foundation. The party was dissolved in December 2014. Socialist People's Party (Denmark)
The Green Left, since March 2022 the English name for Socialistisk Folkeparti (, , abbr. SF), is a democratic socialist political party in Denmark. SF was founded on 15 February 1959 by Aksel Larsen, a former leader of the Communist Party of Denmark (DKP), who was removed for criticizing the Soviet intervention in the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. The New Right (Denmark)
Nye Borgerlige (NB for short and often translated as the New Right) is a national-conservative and Right-wing populism, right-wing populist List of political parties in Denmark, political party in Denmark. The Centre Democrats (, CD) were a Danish political party. History The party was formed in 1973 by Erhard Jakobsen, a former MP and mayor of Gladsaxe, as a centrist splinter group from the Danish Social Democrats. It participated in both centre-right governments (1982–1988) and centre-left governments (1993–1996). In the 2001 election, it lost its parliamentary representation, a severe setback for the party. In the 2005 election, it got 33,635 votes (1% of votes nationwide). It also ran in several municipalities in the Danish municipal election in November 2005. 1970 Danish Municipal Reform
The 1970 Danish Municipal Reform was an extensive administrative reform in Denmark which on 1 April 1970 reduced the number of Danish municipalities from 1,098 to 277 and the number of counties from 25 to 14. The reform also abolished the last legal privileges of the market towns ( sing. Danish: ''købstad''). The 1970 reform was followed by another municipal reform in 2007, namely the Structural Reform. This reform would further reduce the number of municipalities in Denmark, and replace the counties with regions.
