The Mantamonadida are a Podiate without clear relationships to other Podiades.

It has been suggested that the Mantamonadida be classified in Apusozoa as sister of the Apusmonadida on the basis of rRNA analyses.[1][2] Previously it was placed in Varisulca/Sulcozoa as a more basal Podiate, related to e.g. Ancyromonas/Planomonadidae.[3]
