Yuji Naka
, credited in some games as YU2, is a Japanese video game programmer, designer and producer. He is the former head of the Sega studio Sonic Team, where he was the lead programmer of the original '' Sonic the Hedgehog'' series on the Sega Mega Drive. Naka also led development on games including '' Nights into Dreams'' (1996), ''Burning Rangers'' (1998), '' Sonic Adventure'' (1998) and three games in the ''Phantasy Star'' franchise (1987–2000). In 2006, Naka left Sega to found Prope, an independent game company. He joined Square Enix to direct the platform game '' Balan Wonderworld'' (2021), which reunited him with the ''Sonic'' co-creator Naoto Ohshima. After the game underperformed critically and commercially, Naka announced he had left Square Enix. In 2022, he said he had been removed from ''Balan Wonderworld'' before it was released and sued Square Enix. is a 2021 platform game principally developed by Arzest and published by Square Enix. Assuming the role of two children guided by a magical being called Balan, the player explores twelve worlds themed after the hearts of troubled individuals. They explore levels, collecting items to progress to further areas and using a variety of powers unlocked using themed costumes. is a Japanese game designer, producer, programmer, and engineer, who headed Sega's AM2 team for 18 years. Hiroshi Kawaguchi (composer)
is a Japanese video game music composer and keyboardist who works for Sega. He is among the oldest of the Sega sound team members, and one of the few from the 1980s still active today. He joined Sega in 1984 as a programmer, but quit the job and became a composer the following year. He is also known as Hiro, Master Hiro (Hiro師匠) and Hiroshi Miyauchi (宮内 博史) (his pre-mukoyōshi name), and has been a part of both the S.S.T. Band and the sound unit . the latter of which he leads. Girl's Garden
is an action game developed and published by Sega for the SG-1000 console in 1985. The game follows a girl as she gathers flowers to win the love of a boy. It was the debut work of Sega programmers Yuji Naka and Hiroshi Kawaguchi. Naka went on to co-create the ''Sonic the Hedgehog'' series and Kawaguchi would later compose music for popular Sega arcade games. Gameplay ''Girl's Garden'' is an arcade-style action game. The player controls a young girl named Papri as she collects flowers to win the affection of a boy. During each round, the player must collect a certain number of flowers and return them to the boy before time expires and the boy meets another girl.
