Yangshan County
Yangshan County ( postal: Yeungshan; ) is a county in the northwest of Guangdong Province, China, bordering Hunan province to the north. It is under the administration of the city of Qingyuan. A military camp was established in the area in the late Qin dynasty. It was Emperor Han Wu Di who formally recognized Yangshan as a county. A Tang dynasty poet, Han You (Chinese: 韓愈), visited it and wrote a poem about his journey, "The Travel Diary of Swallow Pavilion" (Chinese: ). A prefecture-level city () or prefectural city is an administrative division of the People's Republic of China (PRC), ranking below a province and above a county in China's administrative structure. Qingyuan, formerly romanized as Tsingyun, is a prefecture-level city in northern Guangdong province, China, on the banks of the Bei or North River. Postal romanization was a system of transliterating Chinese place names developed by postal authorities in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. For many cities, the corresponding postal romanization was the most common English-language form of the city's name from the 1890s until the 1980s, when postal romanization was replaced by pinyin, but the system remained in place on Taiwan until 2002.
