High Court Of Cassation And Justice
The High Court of Cassation and Justice ( ro, Înalta Curte de Casație și Justiție) is Romania's supreme court, and the court of last resort. It is the equivalent of France's Cour de Cassation and serves a similar function to other courts of cassation around the world. Naming history It held various names during its existence: "Curtea Supremă" (Supreme Court) and "Tribunalul Suprem" (Supreme Tribunal) during the Communist period (1948–1952 and 1952–1989 respectively), and "Curtea Supremă de Justiție" (Supreme Court of Justice) from 1990 to 2003. The name "Înalta Curte de Casație și Justiție" was re-introduced in 2003, having been also used during the United Principalities (1862–1881) and Kingdom of Romania (1881–1947). Andrei Rădulescu (28 November 1880 – 30 September 1959) was a Romanian jurist. He served as President of the High Court of Cassation and Justice from 1938 to 1940, and as president of the Romanian Academy from 1946 to 1948. Early life He was born in Chiojdeanca, Prahova County. His parents belonged to the ''moșnean'' class of landowning peasants. He had one sister who survived into adulthood. He attended primary school in his village between 1887 and 1893, enrolling in the Peter and Paul High School in Ploiești in 1894. Gheorghe Buzdugan
Gheorghe V. Buzdugan (February 10, 1867 – October 7, 1929) was a Romanian jurist and politician. Born in Focșani, Buzdugan studied law at the University of Bucharest, after which he served as a judge. Assigned to Piatra Neamț in early 1892, he was transferred to Râmnicu Sărat late that year. He later moved to Galați, serving until 1900, when he was sent to Dorohoi. He also worked in Brăila. He reached Bucharest in 1902, joining the appeals court in 1905, and the High Court of Cassation and Justice in 1910. He became section president there in 1919, and was overall president from 1924 to 1927. He resigned from the magistracy in order to become a member of the regency (alongside Prince Nicholas and Patriarch Miron Cristea) that acted on behalf of the minor King Michael. Elected an honorary member of the Romanian Academy in 1929, he died the same year, being replaced by .
