The Finger Lakes are a group of eleven long, narrow, roughly north–south lakes located south of Lake Ontario in an area called the ''Finger Lakes region'' in New York, in the United States. Canandaigua Lake
Canandaigua Lake is the fourth largest of the Finger Lakes in the U.S. state of New York. The City of Canandaigua is located at the northern end of the lake and the village of Naples is several miles south of the southern end. It is the westernmost of the major Finger Lakes. Honeoye Lake
Honeoye Lake ( ) is one of the Finger Lakes located in Ontario County, New York. Most of the lake is within the town of Richmond but a smaller southwestern part is in the town of Canadice. The hamlet of Honeoye is just north of the lake. The name Honeoye comes from the Seneca word ''ha-ne-a-yah'', which means ''lying finger'', or ''where the finger lies''. The name comes from the local story of a Native American whose finger was bitten by a rattlesnake and who therefore cut off his finger with a tomahawk. Description Honeoye Lake is the second smallest of the Finger Lakes and is located to the west of the major lakes. Canadice Lake
Canadice Lake is the smallest Finger Lake of western New York. The lake is located approximately south of Rochester. The name is derived from the Iroquois word ''ska-ne-a-dice'', meaning ''long lake''. Description Canadice Lake is long and wide at its widest point. The lake has a surface area of and a maximum depth of . Its shoreline is long. The lake is used as a water source of Rochester, New York. To protect the water quality, no houses are permitted on its shore and boats are limited to in length and a must have a 10-horsepower engine or less. Richmond is a town in Ontario County, New York, United States. The population was 3,380 at the 2020 census. The town is named after Abigail Richmond Pitts, an early settler. The town of Richmond is on the western border of the county, south of Rochester. History Richmond was part of the Phelps and Gorham Purchase. The area was first settled around 1790. Canadice is a town in Ontario County, New York, United States. The population was 1,674 at the 2020 census. The Town of Canadice is in the Finger Lakes region of New York and is in the southwestern part of its county. History When the county was formed, Canadice was within a district named, in turn "Pittstown," "Honeoye," and "Richmond." Settlement began ''circa'' 1795 near the shore of Honeoye Lake. Springwater is a town in Livingston County, New York, United States. The population was 2,439 at the 2010 census. Springwater is in the southeast part of the county. Hemlock Lake is one of the minor Finger Lakes. It is mostly located in Livingston County, New York, south of Rochester, with a portion overlapping into Ontario County. Hemlock is a translation of the Seneca name for the lake, ''O-neh-da Te-car-ne-o-di''. Description Hemlock Lake is long, and approximately wide along most of its uniform north-south length. Livonia, New York
Livonia is a town in Livingston County, New York, United States. As of the 2010 census, the town population was 7,809. The town contains a village also named Livonia. The town is on the eastern border of the county. In the 19th century numerous migrants moved from here to the Midwest. A group settled in Michigan, naming their community Livonia. Groveland, New York
Groveland is a town in Livingston County, New York, United States. The population was 3,249 at the 2010 census. The town is centrally located in the county, south of Geneseo. History The Sullivan Expedition (1779) reached its farthest extent here. Groveland was the site of the Boyd and Parker ambush. In 1792, the first planned European American settlement in Livingston County was located in Groveland and was called "Willamsburgh" after Sir William Pulteney, a land speculator. The town was formed in 1789 as part of Ontario County, later becoming part of Livingston County when it was formed in 1821. Part of Groveland was used to form part of the town of Conesus (1819).
