Camotes Sea
The Camotes Sea is a small sea within the Philippine archipelago, situated between the Central Visayan and the Eastern Visayan regions. It separates Cebu from Leyte hence is bordered by Cebu to the west, Leyte to the east and north, and Bohol to the south. Liloan, Cebu
Liloan, officially the Municipality of Liloan ( ceb, Lungsod sa Liloan; tgl, Bayan ng Liloan), is a 1st class municipality of the Philippines, municipality in the Philippine Province, province of Cebu, Philippines. Silot Bay
Silot Lagoon (more widely and erroneously known as Silot Bay) is a shallow body of water located in the municipality of Liloan, Cebu, Liloan, Cebu in the Philippines. It is a lagoon surrounded by mangroves that is connected to the Camotes Sea by a narrow channel called the Liloan River. The lagoon has depths of between and is situated just south of Liloan's ''poblacion''. It is bounded to the east by the village of Catarman, to the west by Yati, and to the south by Tayud. It has sandbars near its outlet at Liloan River. Geography Silot Lagoon is roughly circular in shape and measures around long and wide. Barrier Reef
A coral reef is an underwater ecosystem characterized by reef-building corals. Reefs are formed of colonies of coral polyps held together by calcium carbonate. Most coral reefs are built from stony corals, whose polyps cluster in groups. Coral belongs to the class Anthozoa in the animal phylum Cnidaria, which includes sea anemones and jellyfish. Unlike sea anemones, corals secrete hard carbonate exoskeletons that support and protect the coral. Most reefs grow best in warm, shallow, clear, sunny and agitated water. Danajon Bank
The Danajon Bank is the only double barrier reef in the Philippines, which is a very rare geological formation, which is located in the Camotes Sea. Canigao Channel
Canigao Channel is a strait in the Central Visayan and Eastern Visayan regions in the Philippines. This strait separates the islands of Bohol and Leyte, while the Cebu Strait separates Bohol and Cebu. Thus, the Camotes Sea is connected to the Bohol Sea both by the Canigao Channel (east of Bohol) and Cebu Strait (west of Bohol). Hilutangan Channel (or Gilutungan Channel) is a deep water channel that separates Mactan Island from Olango Island. ThMactan Reef Flatlies on the port (left) side of this channel and thOlango Reef Flatlies on the starboard (right) side of this channel. Mactan Channel
The Mactan Channel, also known as Opon Channel, is the strait between the island of Cebu and the smaller Mactan Island. The body of water is located within Metro Cebu, separating Mandaue and Cebu City in mainland Cebu from Lapu-Lapu City on Mactan. It is one of the three channels that connect the Cebu Strait to the Camotes Sea — the other two being the Hilutangan Channel and the Olango Channel.
