Format
Each league season of the Pro A usually starts in the end of September or beginning of October, and has the following format:
# Preliminary round: all teams play each other home and away. The six highest-placed teams advance to the championship round while the other teams go to the regelation round.
# Second stage:
## Play-offs: Six teams play each other home and away once more, with the top four qualifying for the Super Playoffs.
## Play-out: The remaining teams play each other home and away, the last-placed team is relegated to the Nationale 1, the national second division. The other teams go to the play-out.
# Super Play-off: the four remaining teams play each other in a knock-out stage with best-of-three playoff series. The winners of the finals are crowned champions.
# Super Play-out: the first-, second- and third-placed team from the play-out play against the fifth- and sixth-ranked teams from the play-offs. The sixth-ranked team of the Super Play-out is also relegated to the
Championnat Nationale 1.
