Breen joined the Ballina club at a young age and played in all grades at juvenile and underage levels before eventually joining the club's top adult team in the Tipperary Intermediate Championship. On 14 October 2012, Breen lined out at full-forward when Ballina faced

He was again at centre-forward when Ballina faced
