As a result of the weathering of the rock this was no longer possible from 1975, and the parish of Hennweiler contemplated the construction of an observation tower. The tower was finally built in 1984/85 on the initiative of the village chair, Heinrich Heimfahrt. As a result, the tower is also known locally as ''Langer Heinrich'' ("Long Henry").
