Rabo started his academic career as an Assistant Lecturer at University of Maiduguri, from 1987 to 1990, he became Lecturer II, from 1990 to 1992, he became Lecturer I, from 1992 to 1995, he became Senior Lecturer, from 1995 to 1998 he became an Associate Professor and in 2001, he was promoted to a full Professor in the department of veterinary pathology, University of Maiduguri. He was head of the diagnostic unit, (pathology), veterinary teaching hospital, University of Maiduguri. From 1995 to 2005, he was deputy dean, faculty of veterinary medicine and head, department of veterinary pathology in University of Maiduguri. Rabo moved to
