Career

Impey joined Cardiff City as a 14-year-old after being spotted playing at Barnstaple for Exeter Schools against North Devon Schools. He turned professional with Cardiff in August 1972, moving on to AFC Bournemouth in July 1975 where he established himself as a centre-back. He spent the summer of 1979 on loan with the
Seattle Sounders Seattle Sounders Football Club is an American professional men's soccer club based in Seattle. The Sounders compete as a member of the Western Conference of Major League Soccer (MLS). The club was established on November 13, 2007, and began ...
in the North American Soccer League. He made a total of 284 league appearances for Bournemouth before leaving to join

in August 1983. He moved to
