Tiverton Town Football Club are an English football club based in Tiverton, Devon. The club are currently members of the and play at Ladysmead. History The club was established in 1913 as Tiverton Athletic, and initially played at the Athletic Ground. They joined the East Devon League, winning the Senior Division in 1924–25, 1925–26, 1926–27 and 1927–28. They then joined the North Devon League, winning it in 1931–32, after which they transferred to the Exeter & District League, which they won in 1933–34. In 1951–52 the club won the league's Senior Division, and in 1956 won the Devon Senior Cup for the first time. They won the league again in 1964–65 and 1965–66, a season in which they also won the Senior Cup for a second time. In 1973 the club joined the Western League. Tiverton, Devon
Tiverton ( ) is a town and civil parish in Devon, England, and the commercial and administrative centre of the Mid Devon district. The population in 2019 was 20,587. History Early history The town's name is conjectured to derive from "Twy-ford-ton" or "Twyverton", meaning "the town on two fords", and was historically referred to as "Twyford". The town stands at the confluence of the rivers Exe and Lowman. Human occupation in the area dates back to the Stone Age, with many flint tools found in the area. An Iron Age hill fort, Cranmore Castle, stands at the top of Exeter Hill above the town, and a Roman fort or marching camp was discovered on the hillside below Knightshayes Court near Bolham, just to the north of the town. Tiverton formed part of the inheritance of Aethelweard, youngest son of King Alfred. Craig Alan Woodman (born 22 December 1982) is an English professional footballer who plays as a defender for Tiverton Town Playing career Bristol City Woodman began his career with Bristol City as a trainee, turning professional in June 2000. His first team debut came on 5 December 2000 in the Football League Trophy defeat away to Plymouth Argyle. His league debut came on 24 February 2001, in a 4–0 defeat away to Colchester United. He struggled to establish himself at City and in September 2004 joined Mansfield Town on loan, scoring his first professional goal there in a game against Notts County. Paul Buckle
Paul John Buckle (born 16 December 1970) is an English football manager. He is currently a technical advisor at Hartford Athletic of the USL and technical advisor to Landon Donovan at San Diego Loyal. Prior to this, he coached the U23s for Southampton FC of the Premier League. He has previously been the manager of Torquay United, Bristol Rovers, Luton Town, Cheltenham Town and Sacramento Republic. An apprentice at Brentford, Buckle turned professional in 1989, was loaned to Wycombe Wanderers in 1993 then joined Torquay United in February 1994, before moving to Exeter City in October 1995. Due to Exeter's financial problems, Buckle left and joined Northampton Town, but failed to make their first team. Steven Kim Book (born 7 July 1969) is an English former professional football goalkeeper who is currently employed as the goalkeeping coach at Cheltenham Town. Book represented a number of clubs in the English football league system during a career which began in 1988 at Welton Rovers and concluded with a two-year stint as player-goalkeeping coach at Cheltenham Town between 2010 and 2012. Elliot Paul Benyon (born 29 August 1987) is an English footballer who plays for Slough Town as a striker. Career Benyon began his career as a trainee at Bristol City after being spotted playing local football in High Wycombe. Despite making no first team appearances for the club, impressive loan spells to National Conference sides St Albans City and Crawley Town in the 2006–07 season caught the eye of Paul Buckle, who signed Benyon in June 2007 to play for Torquay United, who had themselves just been relegated from the Football League. Patrick Kwame Ampadu (born 20 December 1970) is an Irish former footballer who played as a midfielder. Ampadu featured for clubs Arsenal, Swansea City, Leyton Orient and Exeter City in his playing career. He is currently an assistant coach for Columbus Crew under Wilfried Nancy.
