At times, he and Yıldırım continued to fight over the first choice goalkeeper role for the rest of the 2016–17 season. Despite this, Ahamada went on to make twenty–three appearances in all competitions. Ahead of the 2017–18 season, Ahamada was told by Kayserispor's management that he can leave the club. But Ahamada never left Kayserispor and was sidelined from the first team for the rest of the 2017–18 season. In January 2018, he eventually left the club by mutual consent and spent the whole year training in his hometown to maintain his fitness.
