Želimir Altarac Čičak
Želimir Altarac "Čičak" (21 August 1947 – 26 March 2021) was a Bosnian rock promoter, poet, songwriter, music critic, and publicist. His pioneering work with various Sarajevo-based rock acts, in both creative and organizational capacity, has made him a well known behind-the-scenes figure on the country's music scene. Early life Widely known as Čičak ( burdock) for his curly hair, Altarac attended the First Sarajevo Gymnasium from 1961 until 1965, a period during which he grew increasingly infatuated with Western pop culture, specifically rock music coming from the United States and United Kingdom that had already been gaining a devoted audience among the youth of communist Yugoslavia. Teenage Čičak thus often found himself skipping gymnasium classes in pursuit of activities he was more interested in – organizing local rock gigs, writing and reciting poetry, moderating music events, and editing the gymnasium newsletter ''Polet''. Small Faces
Small Faces were an English rock band from London, founded in 1965. The group originally consisted of Steve Marriott, Ronnie Lane, Kenney Jones and Jimmy Winston, with Ian McLagan replacing Winston as the band's keyboardist in 1966. The band was one of the most acclaimed and influential mod groups of the 1960s, recording hit songs such as "Itchycoo Park", " Lazy Sunday", " All or Nothing" and "Tin Soldier", as well as their concept album ''Ogdens' Nut Gone Flake''. They evolved into one of the UK's most successful psychedelic bands until 1969. Film was a Yugoslav rock group founded in 1978 in Zagreb. Film was one of the most popular rock groups of the former Yugoslav new wave in the late 1970s to early 1980s. History New wave years (1979-1981) During 1977 and 1978, bassist Marino Pelajić, guitarist Mladen Jurčić, and drummer Branko Hromatko were Azra members when Branimir "Johnny" Štulić brought Jura Stublić as the new vocalist. Stublić was to become Aerodrom member, but due to his deep vocals it never happened. The lineup functioned for a few months only and after a quarrel with Štulić, on early 1979, Pelajić, Jurčić, Hromatko and Stublić formed the band Šporko Šalaporko i Negove Žaluzine, naming the band after a story from the "Polet" youth magazine, which was soon after renamed to Film. Vatreni Poljubac (trans. "''Fiery Kiss''") is a Bosnian and Yugoslav hard rock / heavy metal band, formed in 1977 by composer, lyricist, vocalist and guitarist Milić Vukašinović. The band is widely considered to be regional pioneers of the heavy metal genre and one of the most important rock bands of Sarajevo and former Yugoslavia pop-rock scene. Mladen Vojičić Tifa
Mladen Vojičić (; born 17 October 1960), known professionally by his nickname/stagename Tifa (), is a Bosnian rock vocalist. He gained acclaim throughout former Yugoslavia for his brief stint as the lead singer of Bijelo Dugme in the mid-1980s. Apart from Bijelo dugme, he sang in numerous bands with varying degrees of prominence (most notable being Teška Industrija, Vatreni Poljubac and Divlje Jagode). Undisputedly a singer with great vocal capabilities and a distinct vocal range, his impulsive personality and irrational character have often garnered controversy region-wide. Nowadays, Tifa maintains a relatively successful solo career. He lives in his hometown of Sarajevo, but occasionally goes to Belgrade for new projects and work. Bombaj Štampa
Bombaj Štampa ( en, Bombay Press) is a Bosnian pop-rock group from Sarajevo dating formed in 1982. It, together with Zabranjeno Pušenje and Elvis J. Kurtović & His Meteors, participated in creating a new movement known as New Primitivism in Ex-Yugoslavia. The group was founded by guitarist Nedim Babović in 1982, but initially never had a stable lineup and therefore didn't perform much. In May 1983, aspiring actor Branko Đurić who sang with SCH joined the band. One of their early hits was the football chant "Željo to je moj tim" (" Zeljo, that's my team"). Bombaj Štampa was not active from 1992 till 2008. In December 2008, group members reunited for a concert in Sarajevo featuring original guitarist Nedim Babović and drummer Dragan Bajić along with bassist Ernie Mendillo (The Brandos). Crvena jabuka () is a pop rock band formed in Sarajevo, SR Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1985. Since then they had great success and are still very popular. They were a part of the New primitives movement that started during the 80s. Biography The 80s Crvena jabuka was founded in 1985. The first line-up of the band consisted of drummer Darko Jelčić, lead guitarist/singer Dražen Ričl "Zijo", bassist Aljoša Buha, rhythm guitarist/lead songwriter "Zlaja", and keyboardist/vocalist Dražen Žerić "Žera." The band's name was derived from an occasion when Darko Jelčić brought a red apple to one of the band's meetings. Plavi orkestar () is a Bosnian and former Yugoslavian pop rock band from Sarajevo. The band was formed in 1983 by Saša Lošić, who is the lead singer and songwriter of the group.
