Śrīpati (1019–1066) was an Indian astronomer,astrologer and mathematician, the author of '' Dhikotidakarana'' (written in 1039), a work of twenty verses on solar and lunar eclipses; '' Dhruvamanasa'' (written in 1056), a work of 105 verses on calculating planetary longitudes, eclipses and planetary transits; '' Siddhantasekhara'' a major work on astronomy in 19 chapters; and '' Ganitatilaka'', an incomplete arithmetical treatise in 125 verses based on a work by Shridhara. Early life Śrīpati's father was Nagadeva (sometimes written as Namadeva) and Nagadeva's father, Sripati's paternal grandfather, was Kesava. Śrīpati was a follower of the teaching of Lalla writing on astrology, astronomy and mathematics. Bhāva (Sanskrit: ', 'state, condition') is a term in Jyotisha denoting a fixed zodiacal division of the sky from the perspective of an observer. It corresponds to the concept of " house" in Western astrology. A natal chart is called bhāvachakra (Sanskrit: ', 'wheel'.) Brahmagupta
Brahmagupta ( – ) was an Indian mathematician and astronomer. He is the author of two early works on mathematics and astronomy: the ''Brāhmasphuṭasiddhānta'' (BSS, "correctly established doctrine of Brahma", dated 628), a theoretical treatise, and the '' Khaṇḍakhādyaka'' ("edible bite", dated 665), a more practical text. Brahmagupta was the first to give rules for computing with ''zero''. The texts composed by Brahmagupta were in elliptic verse in Sanskrit, as was common practice in Indian mathematics. As no proofs are given, it is not known how Brahmagupta's results were derived.
