İsmet Atlı
İsmet Atlı (1931 – 4 April 2014) was a Turkish people, Turkish Olympic medalist sports wrestler in the Light heavyweight class and a trainer. He won the gold medal in Men's Freestyle wrestling at the Turkey at the 1960 Summer Olympics, 1960 Olympics. He was born 1931 in Çukurören village of Kozan, Adana, Kozan district in Adana Province of southern Turkey. He began wrestling in 1950 and was trained by the renowned wrestlers Celal Atik and Yaşar Doğu. İsmet Atlı competed at several international wrestling events successfully in both wrestling styles and participated at three consecutive Olympic Games in Wrestling at the 1952 Summer Olympics, 1952, Wrestling at the 1956 Summer Olympics, 1956 and Wrestling at the 1960 Summer Olympics, 1960. After his retirement from the active sports in 1962, İsmet Atlı acted as a trainer. He also worked as a sports journalist. Freestyle Wrestling
Freestyle wrestling is a style of wrestling originated from Great Britain and the United States. Along with Greco-Roman, it is one of the two styles of wrestling contested in the Olympic Games. American high school and men's college wrestling is conducted under different rules and is termed scholastic and collegiate wrestling. American collegiate women's wrestling is conducted under freestyle rules. Freestyle wrestling, like collegiate wrestling, has its greatest origins in catch-as-catch-can wrestling. In both styles the ultimate goal is to throw and pin the opponent to the mat, which results in an immediate win. Unlike Greco-Roman, freestyle and collegiate wrestling allow the use of the wrestler's or the opponent's legs in offense and defense.
