''Romanza'' is the first compilation album by Italian singer Andrea Bocelli, released internationally in 1997. Although a compilation, ''Romanza'' is considered Bocelli's breakthrough album and remains his most commercially successful to date, topping charts all across Europe and Latin America. With over 17 million copies sold worldwide, it is the best-selling Italian album of all-time, and also one of the best-selling albums by a recording artist in the 1990s. Andrea Bocelli
Andrea Bocelli (; born 22 September 1958) is an Italian tenor and multi-instrumentalist. He was born visually impaired, with congenital glaucoma, and at the age of 12, Bocelli became completely blind, following a brain hemorrhage resulting from a football accident. After performing evenings in piano bars and competing in local singing contests, Bocelli signed his first recording contract with the Sugar Music label. He rose to fame in 1994, winning the 44th Sanremo Music Festival performing " Il mare calmo della sera". Since 1994, Bocelli has recorded 15 solo studio albums of both pop and classical music, three greatest hits albums, and nine complete operas, selling over 75 million records worldwide. Frank Peterson
Frank Peterson (born 29 December 1963) is a German music producer known for his work with Enigma and artists such as Sarah Brightman, Ofra Haza, Gregorian, Princessa, and Andrea Bocelli on his first international album, '' Romanza''. Peterson was born in Hamburg. As a child, he taught himself to play the piano and keyboard, going on to work in a music store. It was here that he met Michael Cretu and became lead keyboardist for Sandra, appearing prominently on her hit single "Maria Magdalena". He was a member of Sandra's band for a few more years, then moved with the Cretus to Ibiza. While there, he became involved with Cretu's new project, Enigma, under the pseudonym of ''F. Gregorian''. Peterson contributed to their first album, '' MCMXC a.D.'', writing several tracks. He left the group in 1991 and pursued work on Gregorian, a musical project co-founded by Thomas Schwarz and Matthias Meissner. ''Sì'' is the sixteenth studio album by Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli, released on 26 October 2018. It is Bocelli's first album of original material in 14 years, his last being ''Andrea'' (2004). Bocelli duets with his son Matteo Bocelli on " Fall on Me", and Ed Sheeran provides vocals on and also co-wrote "Amo soltanto te", which marks the second collaboration between Bocelli and Sheeran after the latter's " Perfect Symphony" in 2017. Dua Lipa and Josh Groban also appear on the album. ''Il mare calmo della sera'' is the debut album by Italian tenor singer Andrea Bocelli, following his win of the Sanremo Festival in 1994, singing his first single and the leading single of the album of the same name. It was certified Gold in the Netherlands. It was followed by the release of '' Bocelli'', which topped charts all over Europe, in 1995. History In 1992, Bocelli's first break as a singer came when Italian rock singer Zucchero Fornaciari auditioned tenors to record a demo version of "Miserere", which he had written. Successfully passing the audition, Bocelli recorded the tune as a duet with Pavarotti, with whom he became very close friends, even singing at his second wedding, and funeral. The ''Festival Puccini'' (Puccini Festival) is an annual summer opera festival held in July and August to present the operas of the famous Italian composer Giacomo Puccini. The Festival is located in Torre del Lago, Italy, a town located between Lago di Massaciuccoli and the Tyrrhenian Sea, from the beaches of Viareggio on the Tuscan Riviera and from Pisa and Lucca, Puccini's birthplace.
