Re:think is an imprint label of under Universal Music Group. It signed several acts, including This World Fair, The Colour, Sarah Masen and Switchfoot. Re:think is well known for supporting One Campaign as well as the lowercase people Justice Fund. History Re:Think was founded in 1996 by music industry veteran Charlie Peacock, with the intention of marketing artists outside of the usual CCM box. "I never really wanted to be associated with it as a genre," he says. With this vision in place, Peacock signed on and developed acts like Sarah Masen and Switchfoot. However, just before the release of Switchfoot's first record, ''The Legend of Chin'', Re:Think was bought out by CCM industry magnate, Sparrow Records, thus halting Peacock's vision for the time being. Jon Foreman
Jonathan Mark Foreman (born October 22, 1976) is an American musician, the lead singer, guitarist, main songwriter and co-founder of the alternative rock band Switchfoot. He started Switchfoot in 1996 with drummer Chad Butler and his brother Tim Foreman on bass guitar. Jerome Fontamillas and Drew Shirley later joined the band. Personal life Foreman was born in San Bernardino County, California, but his family moved to Massachusetts and Virginia Beach during his childhood. There he became fast friends with Todd Cooper, who encouraged him to learn guitar. Cooper was later a guitar tech for Switchfoot, although he left in 2005 to pursue his own musical career. History Sparrow Records was founded in 1976 by Billy Ray Hearn, then artists and repertoire (A&R) director at Myrrh Records. ''The Legend of Chin'' is the debut studio album by the American alternative rock band Switchfoot. It was released on June 17, 1997 under independent label re:think Records, which was distributed by Sparrow Records. The album is titled after Jon Foreman's high school best friend, Willis Chin, whose photos and birth date are printed on the album booklet. Promotion and subsequent releases An official music video was released for the song "Chem 6A". In 2009, it was published on the official YouTube channel of EMI. As of October 28, 2016, it has had over 130,000 views. In 2004, Switchfoot released a 3-CD compilation entitled '' The Early Years: 1997-2000'', which encompassed their first three albums, including ''The Legend of Chin''. Switchfoot is an American rock band from San Diego, California. The band's members are Jon Foreman (lead vocals, guitar), Tim Foreman (bass guitar, backing vocals), Chad Butler (drums, percussion), and Jerome Fontamillas (guitar, keyboards, backing vocals). Charles William Ashworth (born August 10, 1956), known professionally as Charlie Peacock, is an American singer, songwriter, pianist, record producer, and author. His albums include ''Love Press Ex-Curio'', ''Arc of the Circle'' and ''No Man's Land'' (2012). He is the founder of re:think, a record label that signed acts such as Switchfoot. Sarah Masen is an American singer-songwriter originally from the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan. For several years she has lived in Nashville, Tennessee, with her husband, the author David Dark, and their three children. Initially signed to Charlie Peacock's re:think label, and subsequently to Word Records, she is now independent. As a songwriter, she has collaborated with Béla Fleck, Julie Lee and Sam Ashworth. Background In 1998 she released ''Carry Us Through'', and in 1999 BEC Recordings reissued ''The Holding'' as a Sarah Masen solo album.
