Palm Moth
The Agonoxeninae are a subfamily of moths. History of classification Formerly, the subfamily only contained four named species – all in the type genus ''Agonoxena'' – if (e.g. following Nielsen ''et al.'', 1996). Such a monotypic arrangement is fairly unusual in modern taxonomy without explicit need due to phylogenetic constraints. Hodges (in Kristensen, 1999) retained the Blastodacnidae in the Agonoxenidae, giving a grouping of some 31 genera, and treating the whole as a subfamily Agonoxeninae of the grass-miner moths (Elachistidae). Collectively, the Agonoxenidae and "Blastodacnidae" are known as palm moths. Description The wingspan is . Adults are on wing from May to September. The larvae feed on lime trees ('' Tilia'' species) and are difficult to locate except for the existence of brownish frass on the surface of the trunk. They mine the bark of their host plant. Distribution It is found in most of Europe, in all of the Baltic and Fennoscandian countries, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Austria, Slovenia, Switzerland, France, Spain, Italy, Romania, Russia, Turkey and Ukraine. Furthermore, it is an introduced species in North America, where it was first reported in New York City in 1928. Elachistidae
The Elachistidae (grass-miner moths) are a family of small moths in the superfamily Gelechioidea. Some authors lump about 3,300 species in eight subfamilies here, but this arrangement almost certainly results in a massively paraphyletic and completely unnatural assemblage, united merely by symplesiomorphies retained from the first gelechioid moths. In fact, most of these moths appear to be either closer to the Oecophorinae and are hence nowadays usually included in the Oecophoridae ( Depressariinae, " Deuterogoniinae", Hypertrophinae, Stenomatinae and perhaps the enigmatic '' Aeolanthes''), or constitute quite basal lineages of gelechioids, neither closely related to '' Elachista'' nor to '' Oecophora'', and hence best treated as independent families within the Gelechioidea ( Agonoxenidae, Ethmiidae). The genus '' Coelopoeta'' is sometimes still placed here, but probably belongs in the Oecophorinae. Consequently, the Elachistidae are essentially identical to the subfamily ...

''Spuleria'' is a genus of moths of the family Elachistidae. It contains only one species ''Spuleria flavicaput'', which is found in most of Europe and Anatolia. Taxonomy Some authors list the genus as a synonym of ''Chrysoclista''. If valid, the genus is mostly placed in the family Elachistidae, but other authors list it as a member of the family Agonoxenidae, Cosmopterigidae or Blastodacnidae. Description of ''Spuleria flavicaput'' The wingspan is 12–14 mm. The head is orange-yellow. Palpi yellow, basal half blackish, terminal joint very short. Forewings are purplish-black; plical and second discal stigmata black, raised. Hindwings are dark fuscous. The larva is slender and whitish. Adults are diurnal, i.e. flying in the morning from May to June. Biology The larvae feed on hawthorn (''Crataegus monogyna'') and midland hawthorn (''Crataegus laevigata'').
