The Odia film industry, colloquially known as Ollywood, is the Odia language Indian film industry, based in Bhubaneshwar and Cuttack in Odisha, India. The name Ollywood is a portmanteau of the words Odia and Hollywood. Industry In 1974, the Government of Odisha declared film making and construction of cinema theatres as an industry in the state, and in 1976 it established the Odisha Film Development Corporation in Cuttack. History Odisha has a history of filmmaking, starting from 1936. The first Odia film is '' Sita Bibaha'', made by Mohan Sundar Deb Goswami in 1936. Drawn from the Indian epic ''Ramayana'', the story is about the marriage of Sita and Ram. The film plot was made from a drama written by Kamapala Mishra. Prepared with a budget of only Rs 30,000, the film has 14 song sequences. The Cinema of India consists of motion pictures produced in India, which had a large effect on world cinema since the late 20th century. Mohammad Mohsin
Mohammad Mohsin called popularly as ''Mohsin'' was an Odia actor, director and producer. In his movie career spanning more than 30 years across Bollywood, Odisha and West Bengal, he has acted and directed in many commercially successful movies. Mohsin made his first Bollywood debut in the movie '' Naiyya'', in which he played the character of Karim. ''Naiyya'' was produced and distributed by Rajshri Productions, which was a remake of Odia movie '' Shesha Shrabana'', in which Mohsin played the character of a boat maker. After working for a couple of years in Bollywood, Mohsin stepped in the acting scene of Odia film industry. Prashanta Nanda
Prashanta Nanda (born 2 May 1947) is an Indian director, actor and politician from the state of Odisha. Actor-director duo Siddhanta Mahapatra and Prashanta Nanda Given 8 all time blockbuster Movies to Ollywood. He is currently a Member of Parliament at Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian Parliament, for Odisha. The Odisha State Film Awards have been conferred by the Department of Culture of the Government of Odisha, India. The awards were initiated in 1968. Cuttack (, or officially Kataka ) in Odia is the former capital and the second largest city in the Indian state of Odisha. It is the headquarters of the Cuttack district. Akshaya Mohanty, also known as ''Khoka Bhai'', was an Indian singer, lyricist, composer, musician and writer in Odia. He has contributed Odia bhajans, Odissi songs, folk songs, film and non-film modern light songs in Odisha on contemporary themes and ballads based on popular legends in Odisha. ''Sri Lokanath'' is a 1960 Indian Odia-language film directed by Prafulla Sengupta and based on a story by Aswini Kumar Ghosh.
