At the Throne of Judgment is an American deathcore band from Lebanon, Ohio, United States. The band formed in 2005, signing a deal with Rise Records the following year and released a full-length album titled '' The Arcanum Order'' in 2007 before disestablishing the same year. Following the band's break-up, they had a short reunion from 2008 to 2009 and even had plans to record a follow-up album titled ''Twilight Kings'' but disbanded again before its completion. At the Gates is a Swedish death metal band from Gothenburg, formed in 1990. The band was a major progenitor of Gothenburg-style melodic death metal alongside In Flames and Dark Tranquillity. Prior to their first disbandment in 1996, At the Gates released four albums, ending with and including ''Slaughter of the Soul'' (1995), which has been seen as a landmark in the mid-1990s Swedish death metal scene. Arsis is an American heavy metal band from Virginia Beach, Virginia, formed in 2000. The band is currently signed to Nuclear Blast. History Demos and Willowtip era (2000–2006) Arsis was started by James Malone and Michael "Mike" Van Dyne in 2000, who met while attending the Berklee College of Music in Boston. The name ''Arsis'' comes from the musical term ''arsis and thesis'' meaning up and down beats. They recorded two demos independently in 2001 and 2002, which were later officially released by Negative-Existence Records in 2007. Armageddon is a Swedish melodic death metal band, led by Christopher Amott of Arch Enemy. Biography Formed in Halmstad, Sweden, in 1997 by Christopher Amott, Armageddon began when Arch Enemy were invited to Japan to sign a new record deal with Toy's Factory records after the release of the '' Black Earth'' album. While in Japan, Christopher secured his own record deal for a solo project, which became Armageddon. When he returned to Sweden, he recruited drummer Peter Wildoer (Darkane, Majestic), bassist Martin Bengtsson, and vocalist Jonas Nyrén (In Thy Dreams). The band released their 1997 debut album, ''Crossing the Rubicon'', on the now defunct W.A.R. records in Europe, and on Toy's Factory Records in Japan. Arch Enemy is a Swedish melodic death metal band, originally a supergroup from Halmstad, formed in 1995. Its members were in bands such as Carcass, Armageddon, Carnage, Mercyful Fate, Spiritual Beggars, The Agonist, Nevermore, and Eucharist. It was founded by Carcass guitarist Michael Amott along with Johan Liiva, who were both originally from the death metal band Carnage. Anterior was a British heavy metal band from Tredegar, Wales. They were signed to Metal Blade Records, although they were also approached by Manowar's Joey DeMaio. They released two albums through Metal Blade Records: '' This Age of Silence'' in 2007 and '' Echoes of the Fallen'' in 2011. History Originally a four-piece band formed in 2003, Anterior began playing covers of the bands that inspired them to play and immediately adopted a serious approach to music. After realizing their combined potential they started to compose their own music and style and set out to record a demo of their first original songs.
