Khet Partug
Khetpartug ( ps, خت پړتوګ, ''khət paṛtūg'') ''khat partoog'', is a type of Pashtun clothing worn in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Origin Khetpartug is believed to have originated in Afghanistan. Design Khet The ''khet'' is the upper garment which is loose and slightly tightened at the waist and is more like a tunic or a robe, similar to a smock with wide sleeves and reach below the knees. The khet does not traditionally have side slits, and is worn with a belt at the waist. Partug The ''partug'' is the lower garment which is very loose and full of pleats, with folds all around the waist and made of yards of material. ''Khet partug'' is also similar to the costume worn by men dancing the attan. Pashtuns (, , ; ps, پښتانه, ), also known as Pakhtuns or Pathans, are an Iranian ethnic group who are native to the geographic region of Pashtunistan in the present-day countries of Afghanistan and Pakistan. They were historically referred to as Afghans () or xbc, αβγανο () until the 1970s, when the term's meaning officially evolved into that of a demonym for all residents of Afghanistan, including those outside of the Pashtun ethnicity. Smock-frock
A smock-frock or smock is an outer clothing, garment traditionally worn by rural workers, especially shepherds and wagon, waggoners, in parts of England and Wales throughout the 18th century. Today, the word smock refers to a loose overgarment worn to protect one's clothing, for instance by a painter. The traditional smock-frock is made of heavy linen or wool and varies from thigh-length to mid-calf length. Attan
Attan ( ps, اتڼ) is a traditional dance originating from the tribal Pashtun regions of Afghanistan and North Western Pakistan. It is now considered the national dance of Afghanistan. Some believe it has spiritual roots connecting it to Zoroastrianism. Others link the dance to the British occupation and the Pashtun resistance movement, when Pashtuns used the dance to instil confidence and energy among warriors readying to battle the colonisers. The Attan was also conducted by Pashtuns in times of war or during weddings or other celebrations (engagements, weddings and informal gatherings). Khattak Dance
Khattak Attan (Dance) (Pashto: خټک اتڼ , ur, ) is a swift martial attan dance usually performed while carrying a sword and a handkerchief by the tribesmen from the agile Khattak tribe of Pashtuns. Khattak dance is also the National dance of Pakistan. It was performed by Khattak warriors before going to wars in the time of Malik Shahbaz Khan Khattak and then Khushal Khan Khattak. It was used as a war-preparation exercise and is known to be the only dance with swordplay. Clothing in Afghanistan consists of the traditional style of clothing worn in Afghanistan. The various cultural exchanges in the nation's history have influenced the styles and flavors of contemporary Afghan designs. The national dress is the fusion of different ethnic groups in Afghanistan. The styles can be subdivided into the various ethnicities with unique elements for each. Traditional dresses for both men and women tend to cover the whole body, with trousers gathered at the waist, a loose shirt or dress, and some form of head covering. Men's clothing The perahan tunban is the standard traditional uniform dress for men, consisting of a tunic shirt, pants, and with (optional) head covering. Pashtun Clothing
As a chiefly rural and tribal population, the Pashtun dress of Afghanistan and Pakistan are typically made from light linens, and are loose fitting for ease of movement. The Pashtun clothes are differently made for males and females. Pashtun men usually wear a Partūg-Kamees in Pashto (sometimes worn with a pakul or paṭkay). In the Kandahar region young men usually wear different type of hat similar to a topi and in the Peshawar region they wear white kufis instead. Leaders or tribal chiefs sometimes wear a karakul hat, like Hamid Karzai and others. The Pashtun Lūngai (or Paṭkay) is the most worn one.
