Andrea Illy (born 7 September 1964) is an Italian businessman. He is the Chairman of illycaffè S.p.A., a family coffee business founded in Trieste in 1933. He has additionally been Chairman of Altagamma since 2013. Life and education Illy was born on 2 September 1964 in Trieste, the son of Ernesto Illy. He started his studies in Switzerland and graduated with a degree in Chemistry from the University of Trieste. He subsequently took a Master Executive at SDA Bocconi, Milan, attended the six-week Advanced Management program at Harvard Business School, and the Executive Program at Singularity University, Silicon Valley. Ernesto Illy
Ernesto Illy (July 18, 1925 – February 3, 2008) was an Italian food chemist and businessman, known as the chairman of the Illycaffè S.p.A. coffee manufacturer. He was deeply and widely respected, and is considered "an absolute giant" in the world of coffee and espresso, He spearheaded Illy's research into coffee and espresso quality, as summarized in his son Andrea's book, ''Espresso: The Chemistry of Quality,'' which was written with Ernesto's assistance. Riccardo Illy (born 24 September 1955) is an Italian businessman and former politician. Biography Riccardo Illy was born in Trieste, Friuli-Venezia Giulia. Francesco Illy ( hu, Illy Ferenc (7 October 1892 – 1956) was a Hungarian accountant, bookkeeper, businessman, philanthropist. He founded illy and invented various coffee machinery. IperEspresso is a single-serve capsule system for preparing espresso coffee and espresso-based drinks. It was developed and patented by Illy. IperEspresso capsule encloses a complete extraction group that replaces the traditional process of percolation with a two-stage extraction.
