Intermission
An intermission, also known as an interval in British and Indian English, is a recess between parts of a performance or production, such as for a theatrical play, opera, concert, or film screening. It should not be confused with an entr'acte (French: "between acts"), which, in the 18th century, was a sung, danced, spoken, or musical performance that occurs between any two acts, that is unrelated to the main performance, and that thus in the world of opera and musical theater became an orchestral performance that spans an intermission and leads, without a break, into the next act. Jean-François Marmontel and Denis Diderot both viewed the intermission as a period in which the action did not in fact stop, but continued off-stage. "The interval is a rest for the spectators; not for the action," wrote Marmontel in 1763. "The characters are deemed to continue acting during the interval from one act to another." Ixnay On The Hombre
''Ixnay on the Hombre'' is the fourth studio album by American rock band the Offspring, released on February 4, 1997, by Columbia Records. After the massive commercial success of their previous album, '' Smash'' (1994), the band entered the studio in the middle of 1996 to record a new album. The title combines Pig Latin (" Ixnay" is the version of the word "nix", familiar in 1940s Hollywood movies) and Spanish (" hombre", "man") to convey the message "fuck The Man", as in "fuck authority". Intermedio
The intermedio (also intromessa, introdutto, tramessa, tramezzo, intermezzo, intermedii), in the Italian Renaissance, was a theatrical performance or spectacle with music and often dance, which was performed between the acts of a play to celebrate special occasions in Italian courts. It was one of the important predecessors to opera, and an influence on other forms like the English court masque. Weddings in ruling families and similar state occasions were the usual occasion for the most lavish intermedi, in cities such as Florence and Ferrara. Some of the best documentation of intermedi comes from weddings of the House of Medici, in particular the 1589 Medici wedding (between Christina of Lorraine and Ferdinando I de' Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany), which featured what was undoubtedly both the most spectacular set of intermedi, and the best known, thanks to no fewer than 18 contemporary published festival books and sets of prints that were financed by the Grand Duke. Camp Intermission
Camp Intermission, also known as William Morris House, is a historic Great Camp located on Lake Colby just outside the village of Saranac Lake in the town of Harrietstown, Franklin County, New York. It was built in 1928 for theatrical agent William Morris, designed by William G. Distin. The property includes the main house and seven contributing outbuildings. The house is a -story, rectangular wood and stone dwelling with a rear kitchen wing. The house features elaborately patterned stone arches and sills and a " cure porch." The outbuildings include a wood shed, machine shed housing a wood cutter, wellhouse, root cellar, ice house, barn, and a caretaker's house. Intermission (film)
''Intermission'' is a 2003 Irish black comedy crime film directed by John Crowley and written by Mark O'Rowe. The film, set in Dublin, Ireland, contains many interconnected storylines, and is shot in a documentary-like style, with some sections presented as excerpts from television programs that exist within the show (one of the storylines follows a television documentary director). It features several of Ireland's best-known actors, including Cillian Murphy, Colm Meaney and Colin Farrell, all of whom have featured in internationally successful films such as ''28 Days Later'' (Murphy), '' The Commitments'' (Meaney) and ''Minority Report'' (Farrell). It was produced by the band and includes collaborations with Elton John, Carlos Alomar, and Paul Williams. Scissor Sisters were an American pop rock band formed in 2001. Its members include Jake Shears and Ana Matronic as vocalists, Babydaddy as multi-instrumentalist, Del Marquis as lead guitar/bassist, and Randy Real (who replaced Paddy Boom) as drummer.
