Robert Helps
Robert Eugene Helps (b. Passaic, New Jersey, United States, September 23, 1928; d. Tampa, Florida, United States, November 24, 2001) was an American pianist and composer. Career Helps studied at the universities of Columbia (1947–49) and Berkeley (1949–51) He was one of the most distinguished pupils of Abby Whiteside and perhaps the most well-known practitioner of her theories of rhythm and of a technique directed from the humerus rather than the fingers. He studied composition with Roger Sessions, who exerted a strong influence on his career, and whose music he often performed and recorded. He cultivated a lifelong interest for Frédéric Chopin's Études as well as Leopold Godowsky's Studies on Chopin's Études which informed both his piano playing and his composition. Josh Helps
Josh Helps (born 22 December 1994) is a retired Welsh rugby union player. He played for the Scarlets as a second rower. Helps made his Quins debut as an 18-year-old against rivals Llanelli RFC. However, it was not until the 2015-16 season that he became a regular for the Quins, when he made 25 appearances - 23 of those were starts. Helps is was part of the Scarlets squad. Francis Helps
Francis William Helps (1890-1972) was a British artist who, besides a long career as an art teacher, served as the official artist to the 1924 British expedition to Everest. Biography Helps was born in Dulwich in London and, between 1903 and 1907, he attended Dulwich College while also receiving art lessons from a private tutor. In 1908, he enrolled at the Slade School of Fine Art in London. During World War I, Helps joined the Artists' Rifles and saw active service in France. Helps joined the 1924 British Mount Everest expedition as an official artist. He completed some eighty paintings and drawings of the expedition members and the Himalayan landscape which were subsequently displayed at the Alpine Club in London. Helps took a full-time teaching post at the Royal College of Art, RCA, in 1931. In 1933, he was elected a member of the Royal Society of British Artists. He also exhibited at the Royal Academy. Helping behavior refers to voluntary actions intended to help the others, with reward regarded or disregarded. It is a type of prosocial behavior (voluntary action intended to help or benefit another individual or group of individuals, such as sharing, comforting, rescuing and helping). Altruism is distinguished from helping behavior. Arthur Helps
Sir Arthur Helps (10 July 1813 – 7 March 1875) was an English writer and dean of the Privy Council. He was a Cambridge Apostle and an early advocate of animal rights. Biography The youngest son of London merchant Thomas Helps, Arthur Helps was born in Streatham in South London. He was educated at Eton and at Trinity College, Cambridge, coming out thirty-first wrangler in the mathematical tripos in 1835. He was recognized by the ablest of his contemporaries there as a man of superior gifts, and likely to make his mark in later life.
