Diving At The 2017 Southeast Asian Games
The diving competitions at the 2017 SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur took place at National Aquatic Centre in Bukit Jalil. It was one of four aquatic sports at the Games, along with swimming, water polo, and synchronised swimming. The 2017 Games featured competitions in thirteen events (men 5 events, women 5 events and mixed 3 events). Jonathan Chan
Jonathan Chan Fan Keng ( zh, 曾繁铿; born 10 May 1997) is a Singaporean former diver. He competed in the 2020 Summer Olympics after his qualification through a victory in the 2019 Asian Diving Cup in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 8 September 2019. He is the first Singaporean diver to have qualified for the Olympic Games. Due to his Olympic qualification, Chan was nominated for the Straits Times Athlete of the Year award in 2020. Diving career Chan has been doing gymnastics since five years old and has cited local gymnast Hoe Wah Toon as his inspiration. He switched over to diving, following after his older sister, Kimberly Chan, who was scouted as a prospective diver, since there was only a year left to train in the lead up to the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics that was held in Singapore. Myra Lee (diver)
Myra Lee Jia Wen is a Singaporean diver. In 2010, Myra participated in the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics in Singapore. She managed to overcome a back injury she suffered during the preliminary round of the Girls' 10m platform and competed in the finals. However, the injury affected her performance and she finished last. In 2013, Myra took part in the 2013 Southeast Asian Games along with her partner Fong Kay Yian in the Women's synchronized 3 m springboard event which the duo won the bronze medal. A year later, she competed in the 2014 Asian Games Women's 1 metre springboard and Women's 3 metre springboard. She also took part in the Women's synchronized 3 metre springboard with Fong Kay Yian. Leong Mun Yee
Datuk Leong Mun Yee (, born 4 December 1984) is a retired Malaysian diver. She competed at the 2000, 2004, 2008 and 2012 Olympics with the best result of seventh place in the 10 m synchronised platform event in 2012. Her appearance at the 2008 Summer Olympics made her the first Malaysian diver to compete at three Olympics. The bronze medal that she and Pandelela Rinong won at the 2009 World Championships was the first World Championship medal for Malaysia. Career Diving career She was originally a swimmer but switched to diving at the age of 10 as part of Malaysia's programme to prepare a diving team for the 1998 Commonwealth Games. Fong Kay Yian
Fong Kay Yian ( zh, 冯琪茵; born 5 November 1996) is a Singaporean diver. Early life and education Kay Yian studied at the Singapore Sports School and graduated from Republic Polytechnic with a Diploma in Sports and Leisure Management. She pursued a Bachelor's degree in Psychological Science at James Cook University Singapore (JCU) and graduated with Honours in July 2022. She was the very first recipient of JCU’s Sports Scholarship. Diving career In 2013, Kay Yian took part in the 2013 Asian Youth Games held in Nanjing and was ranked 7th in the 3 m springboard event. Freida Lim
Shen-Yan Freida Lim (born 7 February 1998) is a Singaporean diver. She qualified to compete at the 2020 Summer Olympics in the 10 metre platform by placing 15th at the semi-finals of the 2021 FINA Diving World Cup in the 10 metre platform event. This made her the first female Singaporean diver to qualify for the Olympics and the second ever Singaporean diver to qualify for the Olympics, following Jonathan Chan. Pandelela Rinong Pamg
Dato Pandelela Rinong Pamg, (born 2 March 1993) is a Malaysian diver. She has won two Olympic medals and seven World Championships medals. Pandelela represented Malaysia at the 2008 Summer Olympics where she finished 27th in 10m platform. She won the gold medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. She was chosen to be the flagbearer of Malaysia at the 2012 Summer Olympics. She went on to win the bronze medal in the 10m platform, becoming the first Malaysian female athlete to win an Olympic medal, as well as the first in any sport other than badminton. Wendy Ng Yan Yee (born 11 July 1993) is a Malaysian diver. Career Early beginning Ng begin diving at the age of 13 at Bandar Tun Razak Swimming Pool. Nur Dhabitah Sabri
Nur Dhabitah binti Sabri (born 12 July 1999) is a Malaysian diver. She is the youngest Malaysian diver to champion two senior international competitions. Early and personal life Dhabitah was born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Sabri Hashim and Fazidah Jaafar. She is the youngest among four siblings. Initially, she started her aquatic exposure through swimming clubs. After several competition, her father decided to switch her into diving due to her small body physique. She learned swimming and diving together with her older brother, Muhammad Danial Sabri. Both of them were planning to debut internationally together but unable due to Danial's traumatic physical injury sustained before the debut. Jasmine Lai Pui Yee
Jasmine Lai Pui Yee (born 13 December 1995) is a Malaysian diver. She grew up in Perak, where she befriended future fellow Perak diving team member Kam Ling Kar. The pair took gold in the 3 metre springboard and 10 metre platform synchro events at the 2011 Asian Age Group Championships, while Lai won a gold medal in the 10 metre platform individual event. Lai and Kam and were initially scheduled to compete in diving at the Southeast Asian Games that same year, but in the end Lai did not participate. Lai won her first gold medal for Perak in the 1 metre springboard event at the 2012 Sukma Games. At the 2014 Sukma Games, she again partnered with Kam for the 3 metre springboard synchro event, where the pair won a gold medal; Lai subsequently edged out Kam to win a gold medal in the 1 metre springboard event as well.
