Centipede Bite
A centipede bite is an injury resulting from the action of a centipede's forcipules, stinger-like appendages that pierce the skin and inject venom into the wound. Such a wound is not strictly speaking a bite, as the forcipules are a modified first pair of legs rather than true mouthparts. Clinically, the wound is viewed as a cutaneous condition characterized by paired hemorrhagic marks that form a chevron shape caused by the paired forcipules. The centipede's venom causes pain and swelling in the area of the bite, and may cause other reactions throughout the body. The majority of bites are not life-threatening to humans and present the greatest risk to children and those who develop allergic reactions. Eosinophilic Cellulitis
Eosinophilic cellulitis, also known as Wells' syndrome (not to be confused with Weil's disease), is a skin disease that presents with painful, red, raised, and warm patches of skin. The rash comes on suddenly, lasts for a few weeks, and often repeatedly comes back. Scar formation does not typically occur. Eosinophilic cellulitis is of unknown cause. It is suspected to be an autoimmune disorder. It may be triggered by bites from insects such as spiders, fleas, or ticks, or from medications or surgery. Diagnosis is made after other potential cases are ruled out. Skin biopsy of the affected areas may show an increased number of eosinophils. Other conditions that may appear similar include cellulitis, contact dermatitis, and severe allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis. Treatment is often with a corticosteroids. Difang Duana (March 20, 1921 – March 29, 2002) and Igay Duana (August 9, 1922 – May 16, 2002), Chinese names Kuo Ying-nan (郭英男) and Kuo Hsiu-chu (郭秀珠), were Amis husband and wife farmers from Taiwan who became known as a folk music duo who specialized in traditional Amis chants.
