Canon (fiction)
In fiction, canon is the material accepted as officially part of the story in an individual universe of that story by its fan base. It is often contrasted with, or used as the basis for, works of fan fiction. The alternative terms mythology, timeline, universe and continuity are often used, with the first of these being used especially to refer to a richly detailed fictional canon requiring a large degree of suspension of disbelief (e.g. an entire imaginary world and history), while the latter two typically refer to a single arc where all events are directly connected chronologically. Other times, the word can mean "to be acknowledged by the creator(s)". Uhura
Nyota Uhura () is a fictional character in the ''Star Trek'' franchise. In the original television series, the character was portrayed by Nichelle Nichols, who reprised the role for the first six ''Star Trek'' feature films. A younger Uhura is portrayed by Celia Rose Gooding in the 2022 prequel series '' Star Trek: Strange New Worlds''. An alternate timeline version of Uhura has been portrayed by actress Zoe Saldaña in the feature films ''Star Trek'' (2009), ''Star Trek Into Darkness'' (2013), and '' Star Trek Beyond'' (2016). ''Doctor Who'' spin-offs refers to material created outside of, but related to, the long-running British science fiction television series ''Doctor Who''.
