controller.controller was a Canadian indie rock band from Toronto, Ontario. The band consisted of vocalist Nirmala Basnayake, guitarists Colwyn Llewellyn-Thomas and Scott Kaija, bassist Ronnie Morris and drummer Jeff Scheven. The band took its name from a song by Shotmaker. History The band formed in 2002, and played their first shows using the name The Prefix. Their rhythmic post-punk style had been compared by critics to Joy Division, The Slits and Public Image Ltd. Paper Bag Records is a Canadian independent record label, artist-management company, and music publisher founded in 2002 and based in Toronto. History The label was created to focus on the Toronto-area indie rock music scene. Initial signings were Broken Social Scene and Stars (Canadian band), Stars with their breakthrough albums. ''You Forgot It in People'' and Heart (Stars album), ''Heart'', respectively. The label helped launch the careers of Controller.controller, controller. controller, Tokyo Police Club, and Austra (band), Austra, amongst many others. For two years in a row, Paper Bag Records had been given the title of 'Best Label' from Toronto's ''Now (newspaper), Now Magazine'' in each of NOW's 2008 and 2009 issues. Lioness (band)
Lioness is a Canadian indie rock electronic dance music, dance band formed in January 2007 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. History The band was formed by Ronnie Morris (bassist), Ronnie Morris and Jeff Scheven, former rhythm section of controller.controller (Paper Bag Records) and No Dynamics' vocalist Vanessa Magic. Lioness released their debut self-titled EP, ''Lioness'' on October 21, 2008 on New Romantic. Playing in low-key after-hours sets in off-the-radar locales in Toronto has led to supporting appearances with Hercules and Love Affair, !!!, You Say Party! We Say Die! and k-os. Their sound combines dark disco grooves of Scheven's heavy drumming with Morris' unique bass sound and is conspicuous for its lack of guitars. Shotmaker (band)
Shotmaker was a Canadian post-hardcore/Emo music, emo group formed in 1993 by Matt, Tim, and Nick from Belleville, Ontario, Belleville and Ottawa, Ontario. History Shotmaker's catalogue comprises three 7"s, two full-length LP's and a 12" split EP. There is also a Shotmaker Demo Tape which is not included in the Complete Discography Double CD. The group parted ways in 1996, but released their double CD retrospective ''The Complete Discography: 1993-1996'' in 2000, comprising almost the entirety of their recorded material (not including a Demo Tape), including several tracks exclusive to compilations and three unreleased songs. 33 of the 43 tracks were lifted straight from vinyl due to DAT tapes being lost.All Inclusive Review
