Chautisa
Chautisa or Chautisha or Choutisha (, or, ଚଉତିଶା) is a genre of literary composition in Indian literature. It was popular form of writing in medieval poetry. It is a form of constrained writing where each verse begins with consecutive letters of the alphabet, typically starting with the first consonant. The word 'Chautisa' means thirty four, signifying the number of consonants in the Bengali or Odia script. Bengali Literature Chautisha is a prominent genre of medieval Bengali poetry. A special feature of this is that each verse is composed keeping each letter of the alphabet in the beginning. Sometimes multiple verses are composed in the same phase with the same letter. It is called Chautisha because such poems are composed with the help of thirty-four letters. This style has been widely practiced in medieval Bengali literature. Dinakrushna Dasa
Dinakrushna Dasa (1650–1710) was an Odia poet, belonging to the Vaishnava tradition of Bhakti movement. He is known for his Odia poem titled "Rasakallola", which is devoted to Lord Krishna. Among his many literary compositions, "Artatrana Chautisa" is a reputed one. Dinakrusna's '' Rasakallola'' and his standalone compositions including " chaupadi", " prabhati", " janana", " chautisa", "bhajana", and " malasri" are central to the repertoire of Odissi music, the traditional classical music of the state. Odia Literature
Odia literature is literature written in the Odia language, mostly from the Indian state of Odisha. The modern Odia language is mostly formed from Tadbhava words with significant Sanskrit (Tatsama) influences, along with loanwoards from Desaja, English, Hindustani (Hindi/Urdu), Persian, and Arabic. Its earliest written texts date from around 1000 CE. The earliest Odia newspaper was '' Utkala Deepika'', first published on August 4, 1866. Historians have divided Odia literature into five main stages: Old Odia (800 AD to 1300 AD), Early Medieval Odia (1300 AD to 1500 AD), Medieval Odia (1500 AD to 1700 AD), Late Medieval Odia (1700 AD to 1850 AD) and Modern Odia (1870 AD to present). Baladeba Ratha
''Kabisurjya'' Baladeba Ratha (alternatively spelled ''Kabisurya, Kavisurya Baladev Rath,'' ; c. 1789 – 1845) was an Indian poet who wrote in the Odia language, and a composer and musician of Odissi music, most known as poet-composer of the ''Champu''. Kabisurjya has composed hundreds of songs in the tradition of Odissi music, employing unique traditional ragas & talas. Dobhashi
Dobhashi ( bn, দোভাষী, Dobhāṣī, bilingual) is a neologism used to refer to a historical Register (sociolinguistics), register of the Bengali language which borrowed extensively, in all aspects, from Arabic and Persian. It became the most customary form for composing ''puthi'' poetry predominantly using the traditional Bengali alphabet. Indian literature refers to the literature produced on the Indian subcontinent until 1947 and in the Republic of India thereafter. The Republic of India has 22 officially recognised languages. The earliest works of Indian literature were orally transmitted. Sanskrit literature begins with the oral literature of the Rig Veda, a collection of literature dating to the period 1500–1200 BCE. Balarama Dasa
Balarama Dasa (alternatively spelled ''Balaram Das''; ; ) was an Odia poet and litterateur. He was one of the 5 great poets in Odia literature, the Panchasakha during the Bhakti age of literature. He was the eldest of the Pancha sakha. He wrote the Jagamohana Ramayana also known as Dandi Ramayana. Personal life Not much is known about his early life. From his own writings it is known that he was the son of Somanatha Mahapatra and Jamuna Debi. Banamali Dasa (; 1720–1793) is an Indian medieval Odia ''bhakta''-poet & composer of Odissi music from the state of Odisha.
