basketballscotland is the governing body of the sport of basketball in Scotland. The organisation manages national competitions and runs the Scotland national basketball team. They also have a cup final for all age groups of the course of a weekend during the early months of the year. They are also founder members of the reformed Great Britain national basketball team. Scottish Basketball Championship Women
The Scottish Basketball Championship Women is the national women's basketball league of Scotland. The league forms the second tier of British women's basketball (inline with the English Basketball League) after the professional setup of the WBBL, where Scotland has one representative, the Caledonia Pride. The governing body of basketball in Scotland is basketballscotland. The current League and Playoffs champions are the Lady Rocks. Scotland National Basketball Team
The Scottish national basketball team is the basketball side that represents Scotland in international competition. They are organised by basketballscotland, the sport's governing body in Scotland, which in 2005, along with England and Wales merged to form the Great Britain national basketball team. The Scotland national team used to compete in the FIBA Europe's Division C. Scotland's direct affiliation to FIBA ended on 30 September 2016. To date, Scotland's main accomplishments were two qualifications to the EuroBasket, Europe's main basketball event. Further, the team won five bronze medals at the FIBA European Championship for Small Countries. Robert Archibald
Robert Michael Archibald (29 March 1980 – 23 January 2020) was a Scottish professional basketball player. A power forward / center from the University of Illinois, he was selected by the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2002 NBA draft with the third pick of the second round (32nd overall). Career Archibald graduated from Lafayette High School in 1998, along with MLB player Ryan Howard. Archibald's father Bobby was a player for Murray BC in Scotland and was capped several times for Scotland and Great Britain's national teams. NBA After drafting him in the second round, the Memphis Grizzlies signed Archibald to a 2-year contract. After one season with the team, in which he played only 12 games, Archibald was traded with Brevin Knight and Cezary Trybański to the Phoenix Suns in exchange for Bo Outlaw and Jake Tsakalidis. Great Britain National Basketball Team
The Great Britain men's national basketball team (also known as GB Basketball or GB) represents Great Britain in international basketball competitions. The national team is administered by British Basketball. The current governing body for the Great Britain team was formed by the national federations of England (Basketball England), Scotland (Basketballscotland), and Wales (Basketball Wales) on 1 December 2006. Prior to the merger, England, Scotland, and Wales competed independently during international play except for Olympic events. Iain MacLean (basketball)
Iain Maclean (born 1965) is a Scottish basketball coach. He was the head coach of the Scotland men's national team and the Glasgow Storm club. He is also known for his time as a player for teams in both Scotland and Great Britain. Maclean is also head coach of the Scotland Men's Universities basketball team which won the BUSA Home Nations Basketball title in April 2007. Maclean played NCAA Division I college basketball at Northern Arizona University and played professionally with the former MIM Livingston team and the Scottish Rocks in the British Basketball League. He also coached the Scottish Rocks during the 2001–02 season after Greg Lockridge was fired. Commonwealth Games Council For Scotland
Scotland is one of only six countries to have competed in every Commonwealth Games since the first Empire Games in 1930. The others are Australia, Canada, England, New Zealand and Wales. The Commonwealth Games is the only major multi-sport event in which Scottish athletes and teams compete as Scotland; otherwise Scotland participates in multi-sport events as part of a Great Britain team.
