Iain MacLean (basketball)
Iain Maclean (born 1965) is a Scottish basketball coach. He was the head coach of the Scotland men's national team and the Glasgow Storm club. He is also known for his time as a player for teams in both Scotland and Great Britain. Maclean is also head coach of the Scotland Men's Universities basketball team which won the BUSA Home Nations Basketball title in April 2007. Maclean played NCAA Division I college basketball at Northern Arizona University and played professionally with the former MIM Livingston team and the Scottish Rocks in the British Basketball League. He also coached the Scottish Rocks during the 2001–02 season after Greg Lockridge was fired. Scotland Men's National Team
The Scottish national basketball team is the basketball side that represents Scotland in international competition. They are organised by basketballscotland, the sport's governing body in Scotland, which in 2005, along with England and Wales merged to form the Great Britain national basketball team. The Scotland national team used to compete in the FIBA Europe's Division C. Scotland's direct affiliation to FIBA ended on 30 September 2016. To date, Scotland's main accomplishments were two qualifications to the EuroBasket, Europe's main basketball event. British Basketball League
The British Basketball League (BBL) is a men's professional basketball league in Great Britain and represents the highest level of play in the countries. The league is contested by 10 teams from England and Scotland. There are no clubs however from Wales or Northern Ireland. The BBL runs three additional knockout competitions alongside the BBL Championship which are the BBL Cup, the BBL Trophy and the end-of-season BBL Play-offs. The BBL sits above the National Basketball League and the Scottish Basketball Championship which effectively form the second tier of British basketball. There is currently no automatic promotion or relegation between the English and Scottish leagues and the BBL because of the franchise system in use in the BBL although several clubs have been successful in making the step up from the EBL in recent years. Paisley ( ; sco, Paisley, gd, Pàislig ) is a large town situated in the west central Lowlands of Scotland. Scottish Rocks
The Caledonia Gladiators are a professional basketball club in Glasgow, Scotland. The Gladiators compete in the British Basketball League, the top tier of British basketball. Since 2012, the team have played their home games at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow. The team’s traditional rivals are the Newcastle Eagles. The club was formed in 1998 as the Edinburgh Rocks, it was renamed to the Scottish Rocks in 2002, and the Glasgow Rocks in 2009. Glasgow Storm
The Glasgow Storm are a basketball club based in the city of Glasgow, Scotland. History The club was founded in July 2001. The club currently puts out teams at all age levels, from under 12 through to the Senior Men's and Women's teams. The under 12s and under 14s teams were established with the help of National Lottery funding. Storm Senior Men The Storm entered the Scottish Men's National League in 2002. Based in the north and west of the city and playing home games latterly at the Kelvin Hall, the team were competitive and a comfortable mid-table team throughout their National League history, with 5th place in 2016-17 their strongest league performance. MIM Livingston
Livingston was a professional basketball team that was based in Livingston, Scotland. The team was founded in 1977, under the name Edinburgh, by steel magnate David Murray, and was backed by a sponsorship from his company, Murray International Metals. Using the name Murray International or MIM Livingston, they went on to be one of the most successful clubs in Scottish basketball history, playing first in Edinburgh, and then later moving to Livingston. Northern Arizona University (NAU) is a public research university based in Flagstaff, Arizona.
