MIM Livingston
Livingston was a professional basketball team that was based in Livingston, Scotland. The team was founded in 1977, under the name Edinburgh, by steel magnate David Murray, and was backed by a sponsorship from his company, Murray International Metals. Using the name Murray International or MIM Livingston, they went on to be one of the most successful clubs in Scottish basketball history, playing first in Edinburgh, and then later moving to Livingston. History During the height of its success, Livingston were Scottish National League Champions seven times between 1979 and 1987. 1988–89 British Basketball League Season
The 1988–89 BBL season was the second season of the British Basketball League (known as the Carlsberg League for sponsorship reasons) since its establishment in 1987. The season featured a total of 11 teams, playing 20 games each. The league had suffered in the 1989 close season because Portsmouth was wound up followed by Calderdale Explorers and Birmingham Bullets both dropping out of the league. Bolton and Bury Giants became the Olympic City Giants and Kingston moved north of the border playing as Glasgow Rangers. The new season was supposed to feature 12 teams, however Oldham Celtics dropped out of the league and into the National League (Tier 2) after just one game, due to financial difficulties. The 1980–81 FIBA European Champions Cup was the 24th season of the European top-tier level professional basketball club competition FIBA European Champions Cup (now called EuroLeague). The FIBA Korać Cup was an annual basketball club competition held by FIBA between the 1971–72 and 2001–02 seasons. Victor Anson "Vic" Fleming (born December 26, 1951) is an American judge, law professor, and writer residing in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born in Jackson, Mississippi, and grew up in Greenville, Mississippi. He holds a B.A. in English from Davidson College and a J.D. from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock School of Law. He has taught at Bowen as an adjunct faculty member since 2003. He was elected as a district judge for the City of Little Rock in 1996, and reelected in 2000, 2004, 2008, 2012, and 2016 without opposition. The position is now officially known as State District Court Judge, Little Rock, Division 2. Fleming has written two books of legal humor, including ''Real Lawyers Do Change Their Briefs;'' edited five other books, including three volumes of crossword puzzles; and published a collection of crossword puzzles entitled ''I Swear''. General Sir Alan Gordon Cunningham, (1 May 1887 – 30 January 1983) was a senior officer of the British Army noted for his victories over Italian forces in the East African Campaign during the Second World War. He then commanded Eighth Army in the desert campaign, but was relieved of command during the '' Crusader'' battle against Erwin Rommel. Later he served as the seventh and last High Commissioner of Palestine. He was the younger brother of Admiral of the Fleet Lord Cunningham of Hyndhope. Joseph Alton Byrd (born March 11, 1958) is an American-British former professional basketball player who is the Vice President of Business Operations for the Long Island Nets of the NBA G League. He grew up in the San Francisco area, where he was a high school basketball star. Bobby Archibald (basketball)
Robert Fleming Archibald (6 November 1894 – 27 November 1966) was a footballer who played in the Football League for Barnsley and Stoke City. Archibald played for a number of Scottish clubs before joining Stoke City in 1925. He helped Stoke win the Football League Third Division North in 1926–27 and became a consistent performer for Stoke at outside-left. He racked up 276 appearances for Stoke in seven seasons and he scored 40 goals. He ended his career with Barnsley and later became an insurance agent in Glasgow and a scout for Bradford City. Midlothian Bulls
The Midlothian Bulls were a basketball team, first based in Livingston, Scotland, later in Kirkliston to the west of Edinburgh. The team's history starts in 1989, following the withdrawal of the MIM Livingston team owned by businessman David Murray that competed in the British Basketball League. Both teams share a "crossover" history; the MIM team competed in the Scottish National League for two more years following their withdrawal from the BBL; the Bulls then continued in the success of their predecessor, winning numerous Scottish Cup and league titles. In 1997, the Bulls merged with the Dalkeith Saints to form the Midlothian Bulls, winning the league and cup once more. The team played their final game at the end of the 2000–01 season.
