The men's cycling team sprint at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro took place on 11 August 2016. Rio Olympic Velodrome
The Rio Olympic Velodrome, officially the Velódromo Municipal do Rio (''Rio Municipal Velodrome''), is a velodrome located in the Barra Olympic Park sports complex in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Built as a replacement for the former Barra Velodrome, the venue hosted track cycling events during the 2016 Summer Olympics, and is scheduled to host track cycling events during the 2016 Summer Paralympics. After the conclusion of the games, the velodrome will form part of the Olympic Training Center. Design The Rio Olympic Velodrome was designed by Schuermann Architects, a German design group led by Ralph Schuermann. Camiel Martinus Petrus Stephanus Eurlings (; born 16 September 1973) is a Dutch politician and businessman. A member of the Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA), he served as Minister of Transport, Public Works and Water Management from 2007 to 2010. Matthijs Büchli (born 13 December 1992) is a Dutch road bicycle racing, road and Track cycling, track cyclist, who currently rides for UCI Track Team . He became world champion in the keirin at the 2018 UCI Track Cycling World Championships. Theo Bos (born 22 August 1983) is a Dutch former professional road and track cyclist. An Olympic silver medalist and five-time world champion, he is the brother of Olympic medalist in speed skating Jan Bos. On 29 November 2021, he announced his retirement of the professional cycling sport and took up the job of national track coach of the Chinese national track team. Career He competed in the team sprint event at the 2012 Summer Olympics, and won the 2012 World Championship in the team sprint with Scott Sunderland and Shane Perkins.
