Teh Kew San
Teh Kew San (郑求山) (born 26 January 1935) is a former Malaysian badminton player who won national and international titles from the late 1950s to the mid-1960s. Career An "all-rounder" (player competitive in all three events: singles, doubles, and mixed doubles), his greatest successes came in men's doubles with Lim Say Hup. They won a number of major international tournaments on three continents, most notably the prestigious All-England title in 1959. Kew San's singles titles included the Mexico City International in 1960 and the Asian Championship in 1962. All England Open Badminton Championships
The All England Open Badminton Championships is the world's oldest badminton tournament, held annually in England. With the introduction of the BWF's latest grading system, it was given Super Series status in 2007, upgraded to Super Series Premier status in 2011. The world's first open tournament was held in the English town of Guildford in 1898, the success of which paved the way for the All England's inaugural edition, which was held at London's Horticultural Halls in 1899. Although the inaugural edition consisted of just the doubles format, the singles were introduced from the second edition onward. It was eventually considered – especially after the first Thomas Cup series in 1949 – the unofficial world championship of the sport until 1977, when the International Badminton Federation launched its official championships. Rosalind Singha Ang
Dato' Rosalind Singha Ang (; born 1941 in Yala Province) is a former badminton player from Malaysia. Her parents were Malaysians of Chinese descent. Career The woman who has been labeled as the shuttle queen Rosalind Singha Ang crafted her name through badminton. Ang made the headlines in her international debut, by winning the SEAP Games singles gold medal in 1965 and ended her international career in glory by lifting the 1975 SEAP Games singles, mixed doubles and team gold medals. The most memorable triumph Rosalind made was the capturing of the 1966 Asian Games in Bangkok with Teh Kew San in the mixed doubles. Indoor Stadium Huamark ( th, อินดอร์ สเตเดียม หัวหมาก, , ) is an indoor sporting arena, located in Bangkok, Thailand. The original capacity of the arena is 15,000 spectators and it was built in 1966 for the 5th Asian Games. Gelora Bung Karno Sports Palace ( id, Istana Olahraga Gelora Bung Karno, abbreviated as ''Istora''), the formerly name ''Istora Senayan'' is an indoor sporting arena located in Gelora Bung Karno Sports Complex, Jakarta, Indonesia. The capacity of the arena after 2018 reopening is 7,166. This arena is usually used for badminton tournaments. Its maiden event was the 1961 Thomas Cup. The 1964 Thomas Cup competition is an international team tournament for supremacy in men's badminton (its female counterpart is the Uber Cup). Beginning in 1948–49 it was held every three years until 1982 and thereafter it has been held every two years. Twenty-six national teams, each (except the defending champion nation) starting from one of four qualifying zones (Asia, Australasia, Europe, and Pan America), vied for the Thomas Cup during the 1963-1964 badminton season. Qualifying zone winners played-off in Tokyo, Japan for the right to face defending champion Indonesia, which was exempt from earlier ''ties'' (team matches), in a conclusive challenge round tie.
