Joshua Cooper (died 1757)
Joshua Cooper ( – 4 August 1757) was an Irish landowner and politician from Markree Castle, near Collooney in County Sligo. He was High Sheriff of Sligo in 1718, and sat in the House of Commons of Ireland as Member of Parliament (MP) for County Sligo from 1719 until his death. Cooper was the oldest son of Arthur Cooper (1667–1693) of Markree and his wife Mary Allen, daughter of Sir Joshua Allen and brother of the 1st Viscount Allen. Arthur's father was Edward Cooper (–1676), a cornet in the Cromwellian army who was awarded lands in County Sligo in 1663 after the defeat of the O'Brien Clan. Edward bequeathed Markree to Arthur, and his lands in Limerick and Kerry to Arthur's younger brother Richard. Joshua Cooper married Mary Bingham, the daughter of Richard Bingham of Newbrook, County Mayo. They had two sons, Joshua (1732–1800) and Richard. Cooper was the oldest son of Joshua Cooper MP (1732–1800) of Markree Castle, and his wife Alicia, daughter of Edward Synge, Bishop of Elphin. He was the older brother of Edward Synge Cooper. Josh Cooper (cryptographer)
Joshua Edward Synge ('Josh') Cooper CB, CMG (3 April 1901 in Fulham, London – 24 June 1981 in Buckinghamshire) was an English cryptographer. Josh was the eldest son of Richard Edward Synge Cooper and his wife Mary Eleanor Burke who were married in Dublin exactly a year before his birth. He was educated at Shrewsbury School, Brasenose College, Oxford, and King's College London. He joined the Government Code and Cipher School as a Junior Assistant in October 1925 to specialise in Russian codes and ciphers. He was down from King's College London with a First in Russian and was teaching at a preparatory school in Margate. Joshua Martez Cooper (born December 5, 1980) is a former American football defensive end. He was signed by the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted free agent in 2004. He played college football at Mississippi. Cooper was also a member of the Frankfurt Galaxy, Buffalo Bills, New Orleans Saints and Florida Tuskers. Professional career San Francisco 49ers In 2004, Cooper started his career with the 49ers. In the preseason, he recorded a team high 3 sacks.
