Ip Man
Ip Man (; born Ip Kai-man; ; 1 October 1893 – 2 December 1972), also known as Yip Man, was a Hong Kong-based martial artist and a grandmaster of the martial art of Wing Chun when he was 20. He had several students who later became martial arts masters in their own right, the most famous among them being Bruce Lee. Early life Ip Man was born as Ip Kai-man () to Ip Oi-dor () and Ng Shui () as the third of four children. Leung Jan
Leung Jan (born Leung Tak-wing; 1826–1901) was a Chinese martial artist and Wing Chun practitioner from Heshan, Guangdong. He was known in Foshan as ''Mr. Jan of Foshan'' and ''King of Wing Chun Kuen''. Leung Jan is one of the earliest well-documented practitioners of Wing Chun, which was mainly passed down verbally from teacher to student prior to Leung Jan. Background Born Leung Tak-wing in 1826 in Heshan, Guangdong, he had a elder brother, Leung Tak-nam, who would later become a successful businessman. Kung Fu (term)
In general, kung fu/kungfu ( or ; zh, 功夫, p=gōngfu pronounced ) refers to the Chinese martial arts also called wushu and quanfa. In China, it refers to any study, learning, or practice that requires patience, energy, and time to complete. In its original meaning, kung fu can refer to any discipline or skill achieved through hard work and practice, not necessarily martial arts (for example, the discipline of tea making is called the Gongfu tea ceremony). Leung Ting (; born 28 February 1947) was a student of Leung Sheung and later become the last student of grandmasterYip Man. Leung Ting is the founder and president of the International Wing Tsun Association. Leung chose the spelling of Wing Tsun to differentiate his teachings from those of other Wing Chun schools, and to keep them from passing off their style as his own. Ho Kam Ming
Ho Kam-ming (, 12 December 1925 – 9 April 2020) was a Macanese-born Canadian martial artist. He was one of the students of martial arts teacher Ip Man in the discipline of Wing Chun. Life He was born in Macau in 1925. When he was 30, he started learning Wing Chun and became Ip Man's formal student. In Ip Ching's memoirs ''My Father Ip Man'', Ho was described as one of Ip Man's "excellent disciples". Ho was cultivated by Ip Man, later, he inherited Ip's wish to further develop Wing Chun. Chu Shong-tin
Chu Shong-tin (also Tsui Sheung-tin or Toi Shan-tien) (Chinese: 徐尚田; Jyutping: ''ceoi4 soeng6 tin4''; 1933-2014) was the third Hong Kong period student of famous Chinese Kung Fu teacher Yip Man since Yip Man taught many persons in China previously, in the discipline of Wing Chun, and remained at Yip Man's school to become his senior instructor. Biography Chu Shong-tin was born in Guangzhou China, 13th May 1933, and moved to Hong Kong in 1949. Lo Man Kam (martial Artist)
Lo Man-kam (; born 1933) is a Hong Kong teacher of the martial art of Wing Chun. Early life Lo was born in 1933 in Hong Kong. During the Qing dynasty in Guangdong, Foshan, members of the Lo (Lu) family were government officials, as were many of their ancestors in many generations. Thus, the Lo family lived in the housing provided to government officials which were guarded by the Qing Green Standard Army. The lobby of this Lo family residence has pair of royal plaques bestowed by Emperor of the Qing dynasty. During the two major wars in China (the First and Second Sino-Japanese Wars), everything was destroyed.
