Professional wrestling in the United States, until the 1920s, was viewed as a legitimate sport. This view did not endure into the 1930s, as professional wrestling became identified with modern theatrics, or "admitted fakeness" ("kayfabe"), moving away from being a showcase for true competition. ''The Forbidden Door'' ( id, Pintu Terlarang) is a 2009 Indonesian psychological thriller film written and directed by Joko Anwar based on Sekar Ayu Asmara's novel of the same name. Plot Gambir, a lifecasting sculptor of pregnant women, extramaritally impregnates Talyda Sasongko. Forbidden Door (2022)
The 2022 Forbidden Door was the inaugural AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door, Forbidden Door professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event and Supercard, supershow co-produced by the American Professional wrestling promotion, promotion All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and the Japan-based New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW). It took place on June 26, 2022, at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois, and was the first AEW/NJPW co-promoted event. It was the first professional wrestling pay-per-view held at this venue since Spring Stampede (2000), Spring Stampede in 2000 which was produced by World Championship Wrestling (WCW). Thirteen matches were contested at the event, including four on The Buy In pre-show. Forbidden Door (2023)
The 2023 Forbidden Door was the second annual Forbidden Door professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event and supershow co-produced by the American promotion All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and the Japan-based New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW). It took place on June 25, 2023, at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It was AEW's first PPV to be held outside of the United States and NJPW's first traditional PPV to be held in Canada. Forbidden Door was also the first non-WWE PPV event to be held in Toronto in what was Air Canada Centre since World Championship Wrestling (WCW)'s Mayhem event on November 21, 1999. Fourteen matches were contested at the event, including four on Zero Hour pre-show as well as one dark match. In the main event, Bryan Danielson defeated Kazuchika Okada by submission.
