Emile Severeyns
Emile Severeyns (28 August 1931 – 30 November 1979) was a Belgian road and track cyclist. Professional from 1953 to 1971, he won 26 six-day races. He also competed in the 1954 Giro d'Italia and the 1956 Vuelta a España. Six Days Of Berlin
The Six Days of Berlin is a six-day track cycling race held annually in Berlin, Germany. The event was first held in 1909. In its first edition, 15 teams of two cyclists each competed in the exhibition hall at Berlin Zoo for glory and, not least, 5000 Goldmarks. Klaus Bugdahl holds the record of victories with nine. The time when the 6 day race is held is sometimes just in the middle of the football season, the winter is severe, and football league in Germany had rather long winter break. In the past Bundesliga was suspended from mid December to mid February. Therefore, 6-day races were considered major entertainment events at that time ( handball was to some extent). In particular, the Berlin 6-day race, which has reached the 100th race at the 2011 competition, still has a large audience, and in the heyday it was held twice a season. Palle Lykke
Palle Lykke Jensen (4 November 1936 – 19 April 2013) was a Danish cyclist who was active between 1956 and 1969. He competed at the 1956 Summer Olympics in the road race, but failed to finish. The same year he finished fourth at the world road championships. Starting from 1958 Jensen won four consecutive national sprint titles. Between 1958 and 1968 he also won six medals at European track championships and 21 six-day races out of 122 starts in Germany, Canada, Denmark, Belgium, Netherlands and UK. Reginald Arnold
Reginald Athelstane Arnold (9 October 1924 – 23 July 2017) was an Australian racing cyclist. Arnold's cycling career began in 1941, when his brothers gave him a bicycle for his birthday. Despite being blind in one eye, Arnold joined Ashfield cycling club in Sydney where he made a name for himself as a capable track sprinter, winning several state titles. After World War II, Arnold competed on the European cycling circuit, and won numerous road and track races there as well as in America and Australia between 1946 and 1963. In 1952 and 1957, he was a member of the team which won the European madison championships (the de facto world title). He specialised in six-day racing and competed in 103 six-day events around the world. In 2000, Arnold was awarded the Australian Sports Medal (ASM) for being part of the world number one team for day cycle races for a number of years.
