Cruise Control
Cruise control (also known as speed control, cruise command, autocruise, or tempomat) is a system that automatically controls the speed of a motor vehicle. The system is a servomechanism that takes over the throttle of the car to maintain a steady speed as set by the driver. History Speed control existed in early automobiles such as the Wilson-Pilcher in the early 1900s. They had a lever on the steering column that could be used to set the speed to be maintained by the engine. In 1908, the Peerless included a governor to maintain the speed of the engine through an extra throttle lever on the steering wheel. Peerless successfully used a flyball governor. They advertised their system as being able to "maintain speed whether uphill or down". A governor was used by James Watt and Matthew Boulton in 1788 to control steam engines, but the use of governors dates at least back to the 17th century. On an engine, the governor uses centrifugal force to adjust throttle position to ada ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

It was one of the first of its kind of software, originally created by employees of ThoughtWorks to allow for continuous integration on a project they were working on. It was later extracted into a stand-alone application. There is a version of CruiseControl for .NET called CruiseControl.NET (''aka'' CCNet) and a version for Ruby called CruiseControl.rb. The current version is 2.8.4, released in 2010. Build loop The build loop is designed to run as a daemon process, which periodically checks the revision control syste ... Cruise Control (play)
''Cruise Control'' is a 2014 play by David Williamson. Plot Three couples - one Australian, one English, one American - encounter each other on a cruise. Background Williamson said he was inspired by a cruise he took with his wife Kristin. When they arrived on board, they discovered that the dining seat allocations were fixed for the cruise. “You either dine with those people for seven nights in a row or you starve,” Williamson says. “You’re thrust into a situation where you have to coexist with people you don’t know, and I thought it was a great dramatic situation, if people find out that they absolutely loathe each other and things go from bad to worse.” In 2005 Williamson had written an article about a cruise trip he took which had attracted criticism.
