Cruise Control (Headless Chickens Song)
"Cruise Control" is a song by New Zealand band Headless Chickens. Written by members Chris Matthews and Michael Lawry, the track was released as the second single from the band's second studio album, ''Body Blow'' (1991), in 1991 and reached number six on the New Zealand Singles Chart. Three years later, the song was remixed and re-released as the "Eskimos in Egypt" mix. This version of the song peaked at number 26 in Australia and topped the New Zealand chart as a double A-side with "George". An accompanying video was made for the remix, featuring Headless Chickens riding in a car at night. Both versions of the track were produced by Rex Visible and included on the band's 2002 compilation album, '' ChickensHits''. ''Body Blow'' is the second studio album by New Zealand rock band the Headless Chickens. It was originally released in 1991, then rereleased for Australia in 1993 with a substantially reworked track list, losing "Crash Hot" and "Road Train" but gaining "Mr. Moon", "Juice", "Choppers" and some remixes. Another Australian version followed in 1994 with the addition of a bonus disc containing six remixes. ''Body Blow'' is Headless Chickens' most successful album, including three top-10 singles and achieving double platinum sales. The album includes a cover of "Inside Track", originally recorded as "The Inside Track" by New Zealand new wave band Stridulators. Reviewed in Rolling Stone Australia, the first single, "Gaskrankinstation", was noted for its inability to be categorised. NZ On Screen
NZ On Screen is a state-funded online promotional showcase of New Zealand television and film. Funded by NZ On Air, it provides free worldwide access to NZ-produced television, film and music videos. Content is streamed and the webpages provide authoritative background information. The site was launched in October 2008 and is updated constantly. It provides titles in full or as excerpts, with background notes, photographs and profiles of key cast and crew. All material is rights-cleared and there is some content now on the site that had not been seen since its mid-twentieth century screening. Fiona McDonald
Fiona Maude McDonald (born 1965) is a New Zealand pop singer and television personality. Singer McDonald's first involvement with music came through singing jingles for Auckland student radio station bFM. From that work she was asked to join Auckland band Diatribe which also included musician Greg Johnson. In the early '90s she teamed up with former bFM producers Mark Tierney and Paul Casserly who were looking for a singer for their new studio-only group, Strawpeople. McDonald also briefly sang live with NRA, and provided guest vocals on the Headless Chickens on "Cruise Control". Reaching #6 in the charts, "Cruise Control" proved to be so popular that she was asked to join the band full-time. Three successful years of recording and touring followed, including number one single "George", but McDonald eventually left the band in 1995. The Christchurch City Council is the local government authority for Christchurch in New Zealand. It is a territorial authority elected to represent the people of Christchurch. "Can't Get Enough" is a 1994 single from New Zealand funk rock band Supergroove. It peaked at number one in the New Zealand singles chart and later charted at 36 in Australia. The song was included on Supergroove's debut album ''Traction (album), Traction''. Awards "Can't Get Enough" was nominated for Single of the Year at the 1995 in New Zealand#New Zealand Music Awards, 1995 New Zealand Music Awards, with the song's video winning Best Video, along with four other wins for the band. Supergroove is a New Zealand funk rock music group. Their debut album ''Traction (album), Traction'' was released in 1994. The group disbanded in 1997 but reformed in 2007. History The band was founded on New Year's Eve 1989/1990, having previously been named the Low-Down Dirty Blues Band. Supergroove's first release was the single ''Here Comes the Supergroove'', which wasn't added to either of their original albums. Supergroove released two albums of original content – ''Traction (album), Traction'', from which four singles were taken, and ''Backspacer (Supergroove album), Backspacer'', which yielded two singles. Push Push are a rock band formed in the 1990s from Auckland, New Zealand. They are best known for their single "Trippin'". History Formation and Early Years (1985-86) Former Rangitoto College students Mikey Havoc (vocals), Ken "Kenny" Green (drummer), Andy Kane (aka Andy Wilson, lead guitar), and Steve Abplanalp (bass) formed the band in Auckland around 1985 or 1986. Silver (guitar) then joined, followed by Scott Cortese (drummer, formerly in the band Whiskey and Lace) who replaced Green. The Exponents
The Exponents, formerly The Dance Exponents, was a New Zealand rock group led by vocalist and songwriter Jordan Luck. Their major hits were "Victoria" " Why Does Love Do This To Me" and "Who Loves Who The Most". History 1980s: Dance Exponents The group formed in 1981 after vocalist Jordan Luck and guitarist Brian Jones disbanded their first group, Basement, and relocated from the South Canterbury town of Timaru to Christchurch with their ex-Splash Alley friend, Steve "Fingers" Cowan. Searching for a drummer in Christchurch, the trio met David Gent (bass) and Michael "Harry" Harallambi (drums) from punk band Channel 4.
