Zsuzsanna Jakab
Zsuzsanna Jakab (Jakab Ferencné, born 17 May 1951) is a Hungarian public health expert who has been serving as Deputy Director-General of the World Health Organization since 2019. A native of Hungary, she has held a number of high-profile national and international public health policy positions in the last three decades. Before being appointed Deputy-Director, Jakab was Director of the World Health Organization's Regional Office for Europe in Copenhagen, Denmark. Before her election as Regional Director, Jakab served as the founding Director of the European Union's European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) in Stockholm, Sweden between 2005 and 2010. World Health Organization
The World Health Organization (WHO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations responsible for international public health. The WHO Constitution states its main objective as "the attainment by all peoples of the highest possible level of health". Headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, it has six regional offices and 150 field offices worldwide. The WHO was established on 7 April 1948.
